About
The Old Canal Course is one of three nine-hole courses at the Royal Niagara Golf & Country Club. Situated between the scenic Niagara Escarpment and the Bruce Trail, the Old Canal Course is named after the historic 120-year-old Welland Canal that borders it. The challenging layout was designed to championship standards, employing several tricky elements including carefully sculpted fairways, rolling greens, and king-size bunkers. True to its name, the golf course features plenty of water throughout. There are several dramatically placed tees perched on the edges of the canal, providing stunning scenery that is unmatched in the Niagara region. All three courses at Royal Niagara Golf & Country Club were built to the same high standards, but each one offers a unique set of challenges.

2 of 3 nines are excellent - why can’t we play them?
Didn’t understand why we couldn’t play iron bridge nine instead of old canal (holes 7-9 are extremely lame). Marshall insisted that men’s league players were only 2 holes from xing to iron bridge nine. I told him we had just played the front nine in 1 hour 45 minutes and certainly wouldn’t be holding anyone up. He refused and said we had to play old canal nine. Our 4some went over to canal and they had parachuted a 2some in front of us- long story short- our 4some waited on every shot on the back.

Great course…terrible carts….broke down twice on two different carts
Fast greens
Course was in great shape and the greens ran fast we will be back
Fun Course
Played iron bridge and escarpment. Both were in nice shape. There are some long walks between some holes if you’re walking. Fun round. I’d play again and again.
Excellent pace of play
This course is played out beautifully and is a very nice course with the three 9 hole courses the pace of play is excellent. The clubhouse and pro shop have everything you would want, the staff is great
Money needs to be spent here
Greens are uneven with different kinds of grass. Maps are horrific and no use to a first time player here. Yardage no longer appears on irrigation heads. Some trees are overhanging where they shouldn't be. This feels like a real estate development in waiting, and whoever owns it now doesn't want to spend any money on it
