Hockley Valley Resort

Undulating and spectacular. Tough front 9 but gettable back nine. Great course

We had decided to pay more than usual for a round of golf for our Labour Day Weekend and chose Hockley Valley. Typically we spend $30-$40 for a round but this time we splurged and the cost was $100 and that was a HOT DEAL.

I was very disappointed in the conditions of the fairway , greens and 1st cut. There were brown patches and the grass was in poor condition. The grass off the fairway hadn't seem to receive attention in quite awhile and the greens were very slow. Staff was wonderful, however we will not be returning.

Fairways and greens patchy like Kevin Durant’s hair. So many areas could be considered ground under repair but it was “normal” there.

Several pin placements 3 feet away from the fringe (why??). On 2 par 3s I couldn’t see the flag because of the pin location. Several holes placed right in the middle of patchy/diseased grass and making putting useless.

Paid over $100 to play a course that should have been $15 max based on the conditions. Will never come back to this place.

Great layout, some tight challenging holes. However if your drives are straight, you could set yourself for a great short game.

I have seen some reviews where comments were made on cause condition. I disagree, 1 green was a bit caked in sections, otherwise the others were fine. As a golfer if we all do our part to ensure upkeep (replace divots etc) then we all benefit

Have been playing Hockley for over 20 years. I have never seen it in this shape. The course was in terrible shape. Tee boxes were bare, hardly any grass. The course does not seem to be maintained at all. Definitely not worth $127.11. They should be embarrassed charging these prices for this course.

The staff at Hockey valley is great. To hear that the starter lady - I believe her name is Joanne is very helpful and cordial. She is the best starter at Hockley golf course.

The course is $120, and doesn’t look like it’s been watered this year. The fairways are rock and the greens are literally cracking and splitting. This course was a renown course of being in great condition and they’ve dropped the ball. I told everyone I know not to play here.

This course had great scenery but very poor conditions. Some of the greens were unputtable and were not made aware of this. Would definitely return if course conditions were better.

Fairways rough is too long about 3-4 inches and in need for trimming. Weed in front of hole 13 should be trimmed as it obstruct view of the fairway.

On a positive note, the course is beautiful. Staff is friendly. I enjoy playing Hockey Valley.
