Hockley Valley Resort

We were incredibly disappointed with the course conditions. The tee boxes were in poor condition and all the fairways had large patches of totally dead grass - essentially dirt. The greens were in better condition but many also had dead patches. This is very sad as the views and the course layout are stunning. We will not return to that course.

My wife and I enjoyed our round of golf at Hockley Valley. The course was well kept although the greens had some damage on them. For a fall day, the pace was perfect and the scenery outstanding.

Staff in the pro shop were helpful and so was the greeter (Doug) who met us before we started. The golf starter (Bill) was nowhere to be found when we wanted to start play. When we finally met Bill he was a bit crusty, some people may call it rude with us. That said, he redeemed himself with several visits throughout our round to see how we were doing.

All in all, a good day.

We had decided to pay more than usual for a round of golf for our Labour Day Weekend and chose Hockley Valley. Typically we spend $30-$40 for a round but this time we splurged and the cost was $100 and that was a HOT DEAL.

I was very disappointed in the conditions of the fairway , greens and 1st cut. There were brown patches and the grass was in poor condition. The grass off the fairway hadn't seem to receive attention in quite awhile and the greens were very slow. Staff was wonderful, however we will not be returning.

Fairways and greens patchy like Kevin Durant’s hair. So many areas could be considered ground under repair but it was “normal” there.

Several pin placements 3 feet away from the fringe (why??). On 2 par 3s I couldn’t see the flag because of the pin location. Several holes placed right in the middle of patchy/diseased grass and making putting useless.

Paid over $100 to play a course that should have been $15 max based on the conditions. Will never come back to this place.

Great layout, some tight challenging holes. However if your drives are straight, you could set yourself for a great short game.

I have seen some reviews where comments were made on cause condition. I disagree, 1 green was a bit caked in sections, otherwise the others were fine. As a golfer if we all do our part to ensure upkeep (replace divots etc) then we all benefit

Have been playing Hockley for over 20 years. I have never seen it in this shape. The course was in terrible shape. Tee boxes were bare, hardly any grass. The course does not seem to be maintained at all. Definitely not worth $127.11. They should be embarrassed charging these prices for this course.

The staff at Hockey valley is great. To hear that the starter lady - I believe her name is Joanne is very helpful and cordial. She is the best starter at Hockley golf course.
