Summerlea Golf Course

I never write reviews….. but this place is in VERY bad condition. Worse course I have ever been to. I truthfully want my money back. I feel even for the price it is not worth it.

I booked here because you had a hot deal that I thought would be reasonable for my partner, son and Nephew. I think I apologized to them after and during every hole….

It was unplayable and a waste of money.

Not sure why this course isn’t closed. I’ve seen abandoned courses in better shape.

They haven’t cut any grass except fairways which look like the rough on any other course

Can’t find ball in fairway. Miss green slightly and you won’t find your ball. May find someone else’s.

Staff was super unfriendly and rude to me and my friends we pre paid and drove 50 mins to get to the course and were profiled as “bad kids” who ruin the course when this was are first time ever there, we basically had to beg to even play the man was so rude it took me explaining that we already paid and we weren’t just going to leave because of what other people have done in the past we kept it super respectful because all we wanted was to golf. Once we got on the course finally the greens were un playable patchy greens no point of finishing the whole if you get on the green by far the worst course I’ve ever played. He also took a photo of my ID and held onto it for the full round.

Since the main clubhouse burned down this course has over grown and is in need of a lot of care.

I play this course regularly, atleast 10 times last summer as it’s so close and usually a good deal. First time this season. I booked on golf now, showed up to the course and the owner tried to tell me I had to pay for a cart and wasn’t allowed to walk. He said this was course policy.

I said I wasn’t using a cart as I had already booked and planned to walk, he said fine this time only.

I get on the course to see half the people walking.

When I finished i asked the owner again to clarify, he said he will change the course to cart only on GolfNow. Which is fine, if that’s what is stated on the booking. There was no information on the course regarding the required cart only.

The disappointing part, is the course is short and cheap..good for beginners and a quick round. (Can walk in under 2 hrs for 18). I planned to take my daughter there this year to learn. But with cart requirement being implemented, it makes the course much less appealing for the price. $50 per player for a sub-par quality round, is not ideal.

I hope the cart rule isn’t put in place, that would be a real disappointment in my opinion.

The greens are tough and fuzzy. Most sand traps have no sand and overgrown with weeds.

This course is not maintained at all. The greens are like patches of backyard grass with dead patches everywhere. Good course for kids or complete beginners to learn to play since there isn't any pressure to keep pace. Overpriced for the course conditions. This wouldn't really qualify as a golf course anywhere. I paid on GolfNow and the owner tried to bill me for the difference between my GolfNow fee and his daily fee.

We had booked on line through Golf ow and the person on the desk said we had to pay again. I had to prove that I booked and paid through Golfnow. The course is very hilly and is challenging even though it is not overly long. Fairways needed to be cut. You could lose your ball right in the middle of the fairway. The greens were mostly what you would call the 2 putt rule as they were not in good shape.

Be prepared. The course is not well maintained. The tee boxes are mainly dirt, fairways are weedy and the greens are burnt.

This is probably the worst course in Durham region. Very neglected. Terrible tee boxes, bunkers and fairways. The greens were ok. If you’re paying more $10 to play, it’s too much. Nice power carts though

Descent course for the money if you play during none peak times. $27 tax in to walk and os not a bad 18 in 3hours. Out of the way and never super busy. Course is a little rough for standards and looks like it is in a drought constantly.

Was a fun course. Many par 3’s. Bring your own tuft of grass for the tee blocks. 😕
