wildwinds golf links
great course, trying from time to time. Some players doddle a lot, like today, the day after a storm. A bit windy today, PUN. Need to overhaul the cart fleet, not responsive, sometimes no brakes. The Pro declared this was in the works, shortly. Always an good day here, everyone enjoys this course, sometimes slow but most cases play a round in three hours or less if you are not in the rough. Try it you'll like this one.
Players Course
First, as a purist who always walks when he can, let me declare this course a challenge, but walkable. Three holes where there's a bit of a hike from green to tee and some elevation changes. However, we played during an extreme heat advisory and made it no problem.
Conditioning was excellent, even given the extreme heat. Some fairways were browning, but the greens looked excellent. Hard to even find a blemish to line up a putt with. Conditions were very firm and fast. This is a course where you have to place your drive and your approaches, at least in the conditions we were playing in.
You can tick all the boxes for a players course. You'll use every club in your bag, strategy is required off the tees and on the approaches. It doesn't feel overly difficult, yet is resistent to going low.
Can't wait to get out here again now that I know where to place drives and how to approach greens.
Good bang for your buck
Always liked this course. Tough holes but forgiving at the same time. Pace of play is hit and miss depending on the day and time you go. This year is definitely the worst its been but maybe I'm just going at peak times.
Love Wildwinds
We played on a Friday that was a bit cool and breezy. Not busy and the two of us played in less than 3 hours Great course despite being a bit dry on the fairways due to lack of rain Will be back again soon!
Great layout and greens
Love golfing here. Challenging and fun. We are used to Florida fast greens and love coming here for the variety of slopes on the greens. Pace of play could be better but fun regardless.
wildwinds -windy windy
great course, but as the name says wild winds. This round was in the aftermath of that big storm that went through. 40mph winds and better, wow big hooks and slices, not of our doing.....
Great course, great shape, traps were fluffy, greens were fast, fairways plush, come on out, normally great to play, not very busy today
links style
Played true links style with wind, tough rolling greens and long grass Fescue
My favourite course
This is my favourite course in the area. It’s in great shape and the layout is both fun and challenging.
Love this course
In good shape but pace was slow as we were a twosome behind a very slow foursome who never let us play through despite them being more than a hole behind the group in front of them. A Marshall would help on days the course is busy.
Most other times we play here at a great pace and very much enjoy the course
HIDDEN GEM
EXCELLENT COURSE WELL KEPT GOOD FOR SENIORS AND OTHERS
Needs some lovin
The greens were slow...the greens that were cut were still slow...those that weren't cut were fuzzy.
The sandtraps were a mess with rocks and hard pan mud.
I used to think this track was a great bargain and fun to play. Unless things drastically change and the reviews get better...im out
Played 18 holes in 3 hours and 10 minutes........great!
The course was in great shape but some of the greens were a little rough....
Hidden Gem
We received an excellent rate on GolfNow, but regardless we were extremely pleased with this course in every aspect. Great service from check-in, to maintenance crews, to the clubhouse staff.
Course is in great shape including tee blocks, greens, & sand traps. There was a nice variety of holes, enjoyable scenery, and pace of play was excellent. We were also provided with an excellent booklet giving an overview of each hole.
Reasonable beverage & food prices.
We will definitely return to this hidden gem.
Victoria Day @ Wildwinds
First round of the year. Paid $60 through golf now. Have paid less last season and previous seasons. Prices were $40-50 last season through GolfNow.
The course conditions were decent. The greens were not as good as in previous years. Still playable and not bad but last year they were in noticeably better shape at this time. They had some scarring and brown areas through out the round.
Pace of play was good even though it was busy. Staff were somewhat friendly. The beer cart girl and ladies serving food and refreshments were very nice. The front pro shop staff were okay but could improve on their friendliness/helpfulness.
Starter and marshalls were friendly and informative.
Overall I like Wildwinds course layout and it usually has good value. For $60 a round and the drive out to Centre Wellington I might be inclined to golf elsewhere seeing as I live in Milton 45mins away. There is a lot of courses that are better in conditions and for $70-80 that are within 5-10km.
I would be glad to see prices more in the $45-50 range for what this course has to offer and where it is located.
Hope this review helps people make the best decisions when looking to book a round.
Good value
Course is in excellant condition and provides a number of interesting holes .... one of my favorite local tracks.
