Great course
The course was in great shape there was however a few fairways with extra clumps of grass clippings laying in play but otherwise a great day
Pleasurable experience
It was an extremely hot day (37 humidex) when we played, so I was glad we rode. In any event, this would not be an easy course to walk. Driving up the course showed off its pristine conditions and lushes greenery. I was not impressed with the parking area.
Although I have a 17 index, I played horribly on my second round of the year. Making matters worse, the greens were aerated, which led me to shoot a 106 after shooting a 92 at Lionhead Legends a couple of weeks earlier.
This time around the greens were immaculate with a true roll and surprisingly fast; I still shot an 86. I'm sure this course would play a great deal harder with gusty winds. Don't be fooled by this relatively short course. You will be punished should you shoot too many wayward shots, as the bushes and fescew are quite thick and gnarly. Pack a couple extra sleeves of balls, if you happen to spray your shots.
I wished however that players can appreciate the great work the greens-keeper and crew had done in keeping the course in such excellent shape and took better care of the course, by fixing their divots on the fairways and ball marks on the greens. Sadly I fixed 5-6 ball marks each hole, on average; the greens still looked incredible.
For some reason, I felt that most of the shots into the green were uphill, so it worked out well that I used an extra club on most occasions. I highly recommend this course for any level player.
Best course I've never heard of...
Great course, great conditions, very challenging and priced right. We will be back soon.
An hidden wonder
A must play. Yes most of us have heard the saying its worth the drive to Acton for the Hide House. Well it is also worth the drive to Wildwinds. Country charm, peaceful and a great course. I play alot of courses and would rate the greens as the top of the pack. Amazing. The pace is great, fairways great and price great. A couple of things l cant rate this time around was the food and bunkers. We didnt stay to eat, but have in the past. Country charm and good dogs. Bunkers were wet with recent heavy rains so we took a lift on 2 occasions. A must play.
wild winds!!!
This was my 1st visit to this excellent course. The weather suited the course with 55km winds making it for some scary par 3,s and a personal best long drive for a birdie on the par 5.
Tough greens
We played Sunday morning at 8. It took us 3 and a half hours to complete. Great morning.
Lots of elevation changes
Very windy the day we played made it very interesting.
Great greens
Good track. not very long but its challenging enough. Keep it in the fairway and out of the 'scue. Good approach shots are key as many of the greens were raised and the greens have some nice undulations. I thought the greens were challenging but rolled nicely and broke where I thought they would. Will definitely be back.
great value
the course was in excellent condition for early may. Greens wintered very well.
Living up to its name.
First game of the season for me and the course condition was dryer than expected. Might have something to do with the 60km/hr wind gusts on this day which is about twice as strong as normal, but can't wait for my next visit.
Enjoyable Rount
I was concerned when we arrived about getting in all 18 holes, but the staff were very visible about getting groups to speed up. Course was in good shape, too many folks don't fix ball marks, which seems to be a problem at most places.
This course is beautiful and hilly
The course is well maintained with undulating green and wide fairways.
Slow play
wonderful course , greens were well maintained and quick.
You'll want to play this beauty again
This course is in excellent condition featuring plenty of elevation changes and movement in the greens. No 2 holes are the same with a mixture of parkland and links-style. The dramatic doglegs on the shorter par 4's make it extremely challenging to select the correct club. Length is not a factor here rather placement. Par 5's offer a definite birdie opportunity. Greens are quick and true with plenty of swing. Played in less than 3.5 hours which felt like only 2 hours. Course will keep attention throughout the round. Great value.
WINDY !!!
Very windy day to play a course called WILDWINDS.
Unusual lay-out (start) with a 413 yd., Par 4 against the wind and a 443 yd., Par 5 with the wind - followed by a 200 yd., Par 3 uphill.
Course defense is small, drastically sloped greens that you need to know where to miss in order to actually hit and stay on the greens.
Have been back numerous times
Played here a number of times. Always enjoy the layout. Some tight holes that will challenge you and some holes where you can open it up. Pace never seems to be a problem and the course is in good shape for the money.
