Pheasant Run Golf Club - Midlands
About
The Midlands Course is one of three challenging nine-hole courses at Mill Run Golf Club. The nines can be played in different 18-hole combinations, providing a variety of options. The Midlands Course features dramatic elevation changes and heavily tree-lined holes, rewarding strategic, target-oriented play. The layout features a naturally rolling landscape with stingy landing areas and lush fairways guarded by swales and bunkers. Golfers face many challenges but there is some respite in the large, player-friendly greens. Midlands features two of the most challenging par 5s in the area, most notably its finishing hole. This hole requires pinpoint shots to a narrow landing area bordered by trees and a pond that runs the entire length of the fairway.

Great fall day for golf! Photo submitted by jonefraser on 10/20/2012
Nice layout.
Greens run true and have speed. Fairways are undulating, nice course. A little short but still challenging.
Highlands and Midlands
Played here in the 1980’s, it has matured a bit since then :>) Wonderful Customer Service - Very narrow holes makes for a challenging round - A large percentage of the tee boxes were flat and in very good condition - Greens were very true and accurate - A few rough patches here and there on the odd fairway or green - My Wife and I had a great lunch after our round, very good food, and again, fabulous service
Really great features
Everything was great. I am going to take my guests there whoever visits me near future.
Great Course Great Staff
Excellent friendly services by staff starting from the parking lot. Staff is great and very helpful.
We played Midland and Highland. Highland is more chalenging due to the elevation changes. Great course. Green is very well maintained.
A well kept, challenging course.
Tight fairways and frequent elevation changes made this a challenging course for my first round of the year. Playing from the blues made for long par 3s. Played the Highlands and the Southern Uplands. Play was very slow through the first nine and was backed up starting the Midlands, but the starter allowed us to switch to Southern Uplands, which was empty. Would have been a 5+ hour round had we not switched.
This course is Awesome
My 3rd time playing and I have never been disappointed.
Great value
Hills and valleys
Beautiful, scenic, mature. The course has 27 Holes and we (amateurs +/- 14 hcap) played the Midland/highland combo on a day that threatened rain so we lucked out and had much fewer golfers than usual on the course. Greens were well maintained and hole placement moderate. Had some challenges figuring distances with the multiple elevation changes and some greens were perched atop a hill so accuracy of your approach is critical. There was no pro guide or phone app to help with the distances - would be a huge plus. Greens were consistently mid-fast and only 1 green (#6 Highland I think) was obviously recently renovated and choppy. Longish (300+ yd) lush fairways wind through mature ravines - very tranquil. Keep your drives straight on the fairways and it plays pretty easy from Men's tees. Blue tees make a couple of the Par 5's super long. Back-to-back par 5's on the Highlands course at 6 and 7 have sloping fairways so long, straight drive critical for par.
Snack staff were efficient and friendly and prices for snacks were about 2x what you'd pay at the convenience store. Great lunch and pro shop and courteous staff all around. I plan to play there again.
good day
The course was in good condition, except for some of the greens. The greens were a little to slow. The pace of golf was good, played in 4 hours. All round was a good day.
Challenging yet fun course
This course is in great shape. I love to play here every time I can.
Every hole is beautiful and different. There is plenty of challenge for golfers of all levels. The staff are also really friendly and not In a fake way. I Highly recommend it!
the course is great, nice landscape.
But when we were playing at the hole 15, the automatic watering system was working on the green..., why it cannot be watering after sunset.
This course is great and price reasonable.
I am satisfied and enjoyed my game. I will definitely recommend this course to my friend.
Had an enjoyable round on a sun shine filled day.
Course in great shape. The first 2 holes had greens under construction.
Winter Erosion
This is one of my favourite courses. There are 3 nines and each has it's own uniqueness. The price was excellent, which also included the range. The fairways were great for the early season, but some or majority of the greens were damaged. We figured it must be due to the tough winter and some of the covered areas were exposed. Some of the greens were so bad, with sand (probably put there by the groundskeepers to grow the grass back) that we didn't putt at all. It's then that we felt that the staff should have let us know at the time of checking in, which they didn't. Considering the greens the club could have added even a better deal on top of the GolfNow price. However I will play this course again later in the season as I am sure they will have it back to it's pristine condition.
good value generally--probably better later in the season
seems to have been a lot of winter burn on the greens---many of them were under a thick layer of sand
Beautiful and well maintained
I would recommend this course. Very well maintained. Friendly staff. Cannot fault this course. I will be back
Great parkland course but.....
Good challenge, great condition, but I can't give 4 stars to a course that with a 9:40am tee time, I don't see the beverage cart until the 16th hole. When we raised the issue at the clubhouse, we got no apology, and a "I'm not responsible for food and drink" answer from the manager.
2013 season has gone wrong for Pheasant Run.
first of all i don't understand how people complain about the green and yet still give them good ratings. it's completely misleading for people looking to go there for the first time in a while. a year ago, i'd totally give this course 4.5 out of 5, but today i'm giving it 1 coz that's how i felt after my round on Jul 28. greens are terrible, almost unplayable. i also went to the canadian open this same weekend. if i say i can putt better on the fairways of glen abbey than the greens at pheasant run, i'm not joking. at the beginning of the season they had some disease issue with some of the greens, and loyal customers stayed patient for them to fix and replace greens. the club was also reasonable to reduce rate as a result. but at this moment, the disease issue is on every single green with much worse condition, and they still charge full summer rate. thus this course with the current condition and rate, represent very low value to me as a weekend golfer. that's why i'm giving it 1 out of 5.
Good condition for late fall golf
Pheasant Run is a very scenic course and considering the time of year, it was still in pretty good shape; particularly the greens which rolled nicely.
Great bargain for $42.50 each with 18 holes, cart, and lunch at the turn.
