About
Ballantrae Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course with a classic links layout reminiscent of those found in Scotland. The golf course has undulating greens, many of which are elevated, and the player-friendly fairways are quite generous. The layout is challenging with more than 50 acres of water hazards and treacherous greenside bunkers. The front nine gently eases you into the game, but the back nine is where the golf course truly shines, especially holes 11-14. Ballantrae Golf Course boasts interesting risk-and-reward opportunities combined with shots that will appeal to long hitters. There are also three tee decks for golfers to choose from.

Worth the wait!!
For us this was one of those courses we have always had on our "to play" list and it had just never worked out. Fortunately for us we managed to get a round in before the gov't locked us down again, and man this course was worth the wait! It was only April and the course was in amazing shape for this time of year. Fairways were lush, greens were quick and running nicely, bunkers were in great condition. The only other ppl we saw all day was a 2sum that we let thru, and we then had the course to ourselves. The course staff was great and really friendly, sadly because of lock down measures we weren't able to enjoy the clubhouse after our round, but we will next time we play here!!
My only complaint about this course is that most, if not all, greens are elevated. They are very undulated, which is fine, but also the grass around the greens is all shaved down, so if you don't manage to hold the green your ball is gone....off and running away from the green. This happened to me on too many occasions and basically it added a stroke per hole. Frustrating yes, but also challenging in a good way. However I did play with a couple less advanced golfers and they struggled all day with the elevated greens and did find them more then frustrating. You def need a good short game to play here!
Im looking forward to golf reopening here, and eventually getting back out here and attacking these greens!!
Will Play Again
Have played here many times and will play again. One of my favourite courses in the area. The staff is very friendly. I see all the other high reviews and could not agree more. Well worth the drive/money to play here!
Ballantrae does not disappoint (again)
Back playing at Ballantrae today after booking last minute on Golfnow. The price was just too good. However, at this time of the season, teeing off after 2:30PM was barely enough to finish 18th hole in the dark. As usual, the course conditions are pristine, the greens were tough to hold and some pin locations were simply impossible!!! Nevertheless, it was a good round playing Fall golf at Ballantrae. MH
Perfect play after rainy day
We went there in late Sept on the windy and rainy day, all good but difficult to play. At the end, we got a rain check with no questions asked. Then we rebooked yesterday, a perfect autumn afternoon. Sunny and bright maple leaves made the game play feel like in haven! Friendly staff and quick pace, one can not ask for more! Perfect in Thanksgiving!
Ballantrae hits all the right spots again
On a hot humid August day, I played this monster course and had.... a good time. Other than some of the balls couldn't hold the green, the course was fair play. Course conditions were excellent and the starter / Marshalls were helpful and friendly. I would definitely come back to Ballantrae... any day, any time.
