Golfer Reviews
Challenging greens
Excellent course well maintained and very friendly staff. Don’t let the front 9 fool you as back 9 will cripple your score.
Shawneeki
Course in great condition and able to play in a little over four hours which f\or weekend play is good
Good suburban public golf course
Good location just off the 404 north of Davis on Woodbine. The fairways were mostly weed free and lush. The greens were large & fast as I like. Somewhat pricey at $130 with cart compared to years gone by, but I’d play it again
Terrible pace of play. No marshal assisted with pace
I've played this course over 50 times in my life.
By far and away the WORST experience I have ever had. Pace of play was slow to start the first hole. Then progressively got worse. At the 8th hole there were 4 groups on the hole. We had not seen any marshal on the course, or any one attempting to speed up the many slow groups ahead.
Starting our back 9, there were now 5 groups on the 10th hole. Our group went into the clubhouse, ad were advised to play the front 9 over( Not ideal, as we missed some of the best holes on the course).
When we finally saw the marshal, every member expressed their displeasure of the round, the Marshal just shrugged it off as Sunday golf. Then continued to drive around the empty part of the course, not really doing anything to help encourage the slow player to pick up the pace of play.
This is completely unacceptable as a response to a group that each paid $130 to golf.
It left me and each member of the group not wanting to return to paly this course again.
We all felt neglected and that our voices were not heard from the club or its Lazy marshal.
I would not recommend anyone to go to this course, as over the past few years, the course has become far more expensive, with a slower pace of play.
To everyone at Shawneeki, respect your golfers that keep the course full. Respect the players and the rates you charge, as I can play many better courses that are far cheaper and also closer to my home.
Respectfully,
Dave Colquhoun
Tale of two courses
My playing partner recommended this course, and I'm glad he did. The front nine was decent and in good shape with a simple layout, thick, lush rough, and nice greens. But it was the back nine that stood out. It became a reasonably challenging target-golf type course in fine condition with lots of water and in-play traps.
Course was in amazing shape! The greens were rolling fast! Thoroughly enjoyed my round
