Formal Complaint – Unacceptable Bug and Moss Issues on the Course

Dear Royal Stouffville Management,

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the current conditions of the course. During recent rounds, I have noticed that bugs and moss are spread all over the fairways and tee boxes. This issue has made the playing experience extremely unpleasant, distracting, and frankly, quite disgusting.

As a paying customer, I expect the course to be maintained at a level that provides comfort and enjoyment. Unfortunately, the overwhelming presence of bugs and the neglected moss growth detract from both the quality and atmosphere of the course.

I strongly urge management to address these concerns as soon as possible. Proper course maintenance and pest control measures are essential to ensure players can fully enjoy their time at Royal Stouffville.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to seeing improvements on the course soon.

Pace of play is terrible. At one point at hole 10, 3 groups to play. Then again at hole 14, 3 groups to play

It is a good course for the price. Good layout, some challenging holes, pace of play was not too bad. Overall, I liked my first round there.

The course has added the 'Royal' name without any improvements from when it was Maples. For the price of a Royal course I expect better than municipal fairways, rough and greens.

The layout is fine, but the quality of the grass is disappointing.

Horrible marshal with constant barking of instructions to make the pace go faster (even though we were playing at pace with group in front of us and they were playing at pace of group ahead of them).

We followed his instructions which included combining with groups in front of us to form a group of 5 (which combines 3 tee times, our group of 2, the group of 2 ahead of us and the 1 person ahead of them), skipping putts, teeing from red. We fully had several conversations with him in English before he proceeded to ask us IF we spoke English. Then after thanked us in Mandarin, which is not our native language (plus we speak English!).

At one hole we were waiting for our new group members to tee before going to set up at the red tee (as they were already taking their practice swings and red tee is ahead where they woukd be swining to) and he asked us to "go ahead move forward... I mean move forward RIGHT NOW". After we pushed forward the new group members didnt wait for us to tee from red and proceeded to their balls - at which time the marshal yelled at us for not playing with them. But literally they left us and then while explaining that they just drive forward he proceeded to keep yelling at us about why we aren't teeing (because he's talking to us?!??!)

The marshal was over involved with the game, we finished 18 holes in 3.5 hrs which is normal, it was unessesary to rush groups and combine groups given no specific group was holding the pace and everyone was moving along naturally.

He was extremely arrogant to assume we did not speak English despite us talking to him in English and we never asked for any clarifications on his instructions or acted like we didn't understand him. We fully comprehended what he was saying and replied in full English sentences. He still had the odasity to ask if we spoke English and even said the reason being because he sees a lot of asians at the golf course (that don't speak english I guess).

Awful marshal does not belong in this job. No respect for people or the game of golf.

I have played this course on and off for many years. The conditions of the sand traps is dismal. Most of them water in them. There are areas on the course that tree maintenance and trimming is required. I am not sure I will come back here.

This is a well designed and can be challenging for high handicap. The pace was good, the super kept tracking. The only things I would suggest are to pay attention to the details more, like putting back the red / white markers in the fairways, cutting some of the tree branches and keeping the carts clean. Small things but improve the overall impression. Otherwise, the greens and the fairways were in good shapes.

Unfortunately The Pace.Of Play Reunion The Who Game Of Golf As We Hand To Wait Minimum 10 minutes & Sometime 15 minutes it was so frustrating we experienced Pace of Play before at other Golf Course but not like this on every hole.

We also went back to the Club house and ask for raincheck for another time as the Pace of Play was too slow and we were not even asking for a full raincheck only for the the back nine as we would have finished because of the darkness. But Gentleman at Club house just looked at us and laughed what Rain there is no Rain and No Raincheck and too bad. Just go and play the front Nine again before it gets dark. Not good Customer Service. But overall this is a wonderful Golf Course and Very Challenging With Wonderful Greens. Recommended for the Intermediate to Advance Golfers and hopefully, you All do not run into the Pace of Play.
