Rockway Vineyards Golf Course
About
Rockway Vineyards Golf Course offers an 18-hole championship round with the Niagara Escarpment and the Rockway Conservation Area serving as the backdrop. The course sprawls across the vineyards of the Rockway Vineyards Estate Winery. The rolling landscape provides tricky elevation changes and there are numerous ponds and bunkers throughout the golf course. The layout features large, sculpted greens and fairways that are flanked by more than 60 sand bunkers. The front nine features a challenging set of par 4s and fast, undulating greens. Vineyards's back nine begins gently with short approach shots and birdie opportunities but becomes more challenging once you hit the 13th hole, a par-4 dogleg left.

Great value
We played late Sunday after a tournament. The greens had been hammered by the visitors and I personally repaired dozens of pitch marks.
That said we were paired up with a nice couple from Nirthern Ontario on holiday and didn't quite have enough light for the last 3 holes.
Great evenings golf.
First timer
Generally the course was in good condition. Some cosmetic work needed. Surprising to see weeds growing in front of pro shop. More on- site washrooms are needed.
We followed a tournament. It took us three hous for the front nine. I total the round took 5 1/2 hours. There was no Marshall, other than the started visible!
Friendly staff , ok conditions , bit slow pace
I like Rockway , it's a pretty course located in a winery . The staff is friendly and helpful , I just wish the pace of play was a bit faster ...
Starter needs an attitude adjustment
Greens were in very good condition.
Bunkers could use some sand.
Overall manicure would benefit from some TLC.
Beverage cart and halfway house service was fantastic!
Starter needs an ATTITUDE adjustment!
I played the course with my friend and our 14 year old sons.
We were enjoying ourselves on the front nine even though we had to wait on every tee block for the group in front of us, we were in no rush.
Once we finished the first nine we stopped at the halfway house to grab a bite to eat and then carry on our round...this is when our day got ruined.
The starter began harassing us telling us that we had to get moving, we were playing too slow and that we were holding up everybody.
We explained to him that we had been waiting on every tee block on the front nine and that the reason there was a gap in front of us was because the people in front of us had finished their round after the front nine. He was not interested in hearing us out and basically told us to get our butts moving.
We ended up catching up with the twosome that was in front us by the time we reached the 18th hole.
I would suggest that the course hire some more informed starters before this guy chases all their business away.
Greens
Greens were running good on the day of play but there should have been a course alert posted because there were plugs laying around the collars of the greens. Otherwise, the course was good.
Out There Experience
Rockway is a gem of a track. It's a quality 'out there' experience. No condos, homes, businesses or byways and byways. Just sprawling vineyards and the escarpment as a back drop. Great day following the Canadian Junior Tourney, albeit the pace was very slow. It's a good thing none of us were in a hurry to get off the course!
Excellent value
Excellent value and considering the amount of rain we had the last few days I thought this course was in excellent shape apart from the bunkers full of water. I wish I lived closer.
Nice Facility
This was the first time I had played this course and it was nice. I liked the idea of playing in the vineyard. The conditions were good; some of the fairways were dry. The cart does not provide divot repair sand, so there are some chunks in the fairway.
Hidden Gem
This round of golf was an unexpected treat. Hidden amongst the vineyards was an enjoyable golf course that was a joy to play. The greens are firm yet receptive; hit it in the fairway and attack the flag.
If you're looking for a decent paced round of golf at a classic Niagara region course then this is a great choice. Play it aggressively or cautiously depending on how you're feeling- low scores are out there!
Short course
Although the course was in good condition, as a senior I found it short from the Green Tees. The White tees would have provided a better test. Pace of play was slow with a lot of walkers. Overall a nice day.
Disappointed
We weire disappinted because there was a tournament in front of us with beginner golfers and 2 holes in front of them had no one and they did not let us go ahead no ediquite at all............ Could have played course in 3 1/2 hours easy!!!
great day
course was in great condition. was quite busy so pace was a bit slow but wasn't a real problem. weather was perfect. great day on the course
rockway vineyards
It was a very good day , Pace of play and conditions excellent
Best Value in Niagara Region
Enjoyed their Golf, Dine and Wine package. The golf course was in perfect condition, the greens were the best I've played this year. Staff was really friendly with spectacular views of the escarpment and their own vineyards. Enjoyed a wine tasting in their own VQA Winery which features some of the best award winning wines from Niagara.
Overbooked
We love the course, the wine and the food.
The course had overbooked as the the day we played happened to be members men day. They over booked and sent out a number of groups on the back nine. We we came around to the 10 th tee we had 4 groups waiting to play our second nine. The starter said he had no choice as he had to get 216 members off. This is VERY disrespectville of my tee time and good money spent on a course that I usually recommend
Slooowww
Played on a beautiful Saturday with a scheduled 1pm tee time. Course was very wet due to all the rain in the last week, but was in good shape considering. Problem #1 was 8 minutes between tee times. Problem #2 was no marshal. We left the course after 9 holes despite paying for 18, because we were sitting in our carts watching the group ahead of us tee off on the tenth hole 3 hours after our scheduled start time. I just don't have time for a 6 hour round of golf, so I won't go back. Courses need to take more responsibility in keeping the pace of play more reasonable. I get they don't want to hound paying customers too much to keep moving, but now, my group will not go back there. There goes 4 ppl times $50 times 4 times a year, that's $800. Plus me telling my other buddies about our uber-slow experience. Rant over.
rockway
A pleasure to play excellent greens great fairways and the golf course location was nestled nicely in the escarpment and vineyards I felt very comfortable playing it will definitely be returning.
There are some lovely holes
I played after a ton of rain, course is deceptively long , would play again but only after it dryies up.
Greens and fairways are in better than good condition
Course is in better than good condition considering the past winter and wet spring. Greens are faster than they look and the lies in the fairways are pretty
tight. Bunkers overall are pretty good with less than a handful needing some work. Wind is always a factor here with the course being fairly wide open. Nice mix holes and length on 3's & 4's. Good 2nd shot golf course, no surprises with everything in front of you as you see it. Typically a good value but pace of play could be better, does see a lot of play.
