Rockway Vineyards Golf Course

Pre-season round:
Greens were in good to great condition, nicely firm considering the rainy April.
Fairways were well drained but soft.
Rough was soggy.
Tees were on the soft side but okay.
Staff was very friendly and processed the golfnow check-in quickly with no concerns.
Finished round in under 3.5 hours.

Great Golfnow rate and friendly staff, We arrived early and told to go ahead and enjoy our round. Our first time out this year and what a wonderful course to start the season.

I played this course in mid-April (it had just opened) and the conditions were surprisingly good. The greens were smooth and most of the fairways were dry. There were a couple of mushy spots where the balls would plug but considering the winter/spring that we've had it was great.

Let me start by saying that the night before we played, we had a lot of rain.
I booked the tee time the evening before we played and it was one of those "hot deals" on Golf Now. It was a very good deal. When we got to the course, we were told that the course was too wet to allow carts. I have Achilles Tendonitis and cannot walk a course anymore. If I try, I am barely able to walk for days afterwards. Anyway, I told them as much and asked if they could make an exception and they said "no, we have no cartpaths". I told the pro that I can't walk the course and he just kind of dismissed me. He could have offered a refund or rain check, but didn't. So we went out to play, knowing that I would pay for it later. They were correct in saying that it was very wet, but there were cartpaths throughout the course, not everywhere, but a good 80% of it. I could have stayed in the rough elsewhere. Anyway except for the wet conditions, the course was in pretty decent shape except for the greens. The greens were covered in worm castings, not just a few but literally covered!! Taking a leaf blower to the greens in the morning could have made them playable. Someone in a previous review mentioned the worm castings too. Anyway, we soldiered on and at the turn, I had enough, I just couldn't walk any further. We decided to pack it in.

I'm just really peeved that we weren't offered a refund or raincheck before we started. We got the feeling that they wanted us to suck it up or go home. They had their money and a handful of golfers, just enough to pay the staff for the day. All I know is that I won't be going back again. Just poor customer service. Stay away!

Great golf course around the vineyards and you can pick good pears especially this month of September!

Course was well maintained. We played as a twosome behind a threesome so pace was a little slow but easily tolerable.For a duffer like me it was challenging but the topography changes on some holes make for a very pleasant game. My wife and I agree we will be back.

Decided to go to this course as it seemed to be one of the nicer courses in the area. Boy was I wrong. The fairways were a quagmire as they watered them even after heavy thunderstorms came through the day before. I've never been covered in mud spatter while playing a fairway wood off the fairway and then having to dig the ball out of the fairway because it got plugged. The greens looked like they were being eaten up by worms as there was worm feces all over, and on most greens.

Customer service is severely lacking when they close their snack bar at noon and only have poorly made sandwiches on the beer cart. When asked why the snack bar was closed the response was that she was only the cart girl. You couldn't even get a sandwich at the clubhouse.

Only one weakness which has to do with the ignorance of players than the management of the course — behaviour on the greens; ball marks and sunflower shells. There's no excuse for this very clear lack of consideration for the players who pay good money for a round, and the greenskeepers who try to keep up with the damage. Otherwise, the course is a treat to play, with or without the discount.

Your drive through wine country is rewarded with a just enough of a challenge to make golf interesting. The starter did a great job of keeping things moving on a very busy day at the first tee. The course was enjoyable and just challenging enough from the second set of tees back. The cart GPS was much appreciated. The round was overly slow as the course was busy and the marshals did what they could to keep things moving. Dinner in the clubhouse topped off the experience and the staff friendliness added to the ambiance.

well kept with fast greens. pace of play lagged sometimes cause there were alot of twos and singles playing behind some 4s.other than the odd wait at some tees was a great day.

the course itself has a nice layout the greens are very fast ,but we did not enjoy wating ten minutes or longer on each hole no ranger! sand traps were not maintained, not a good golf experience.

Found course fun. You can score low if you're long from tee.

Played 9 and it started to pour. Went in for lunch that was awesome. Pro shop offered a rain-check for the other 9, which surprised me cause it was booked through golfnow. Rain stopped during lunch and we went back out to finish back 9. I didn't like how it ends on a par 3 - apart from that, good value.

Great course! My only recommendation is that they have the food cart out on the course earlier. I had a 12:00pm tee-off and the cart wasn't scheduled to go out until 1pm I was told. Also, it would be a bonus if they offered a reduced calorie juice like G2 or Powerade Zero as most other course do have this...as the only options for diabetics are water or diet coke (but I don't want the carbonation in the hot weather).

Very enjoyable round, particularly the back nine holes across the street. Greens were a bit slick but other than that conditions were excellent.

The course was well maintained and was in good shape typical of the season for the Niagara region. The course wasn't overly busy for a lazy Sunday afternoon of golf.

My wife and I live in Mississauga and enjoy travelling through out the Escarpment region. On the Canada long weekend we took the trip to Rockway Glen. We were paired up with another Golf Now twosome and were able to complete the round in approximately 4 hours.

Pace of play was steady and we were never held up or rushed. Greens were steady, medium sized and had a variety of contours and levels dependant on pin placement. Medium speed with a few unexpected breaks challenged our short games.

Bunkers were maintained and although I didn't spend anytime in them, they looked playable.

The day was warm, sunny and with little to no wind it didn't play overly long. With 5 sets of Tee's the course should be playable by beginner to advanced and still maintain a good test of the game we all love.

Carts are equipped with GPS (first generation) since the layout is relatively flat, the basics were all that was needed. The course website describes water coming into play on 10 of 18 holes, however, since my spouse didn't complain about long carries over water, most won't find the hazards too severe.

Par 72 with yardages from 5000 to just under 7000, a mid size pro shop attached to a large club house and Wine boutique/museum/retail store on site. We saved the wine for last and the staff were very friendly and had a (discount outlet) for some of the clearance wine.

Since our primary reason to visit was Golf, unfortunately, we did not do enough planning to allow us to explore and enjoy the entire facility.

I would highly recommend Rockway Glen to any GTA area golfer looking to escape the traditional 6 hour weekend round. While not a PGA Course by any means it does provide a good solid golf experience and combines it with fine dining and wine at reasonable prices.

We will certainly return and play again. Next time we will make sure we have sufficient time to experience more of the ding and winery!

very nice location at vineyards, mostly flat with some rolling hills, fast greens

Most fairways are flat and wide with very little trees crowding the flight. Greens were fast ( > 10) mainly due to playing in the late afternoon on a windy and sunny day. Fairway first cut were thick. The flags were colored for hole location.

The course was good overall condition. The fairways and rough could use a cut but the greens were in good shape.

The front nine was quite slow - 2 hours and 40 minutes. Pace improved to 2 hours on the back nine.

Generous fairways and some water challenges especially from the blue tees on a couple of holes.
