The Golf Club at Lora Bay
About
Tucked away in the Blue Mountains, The Club at Lora Bay offers a stunning view of the Georgian Bay. The golf course was carved from the mature woodlands along the Nipissing Ridge, incorporating wildlife preserves and century-old barns into the design. The scenic course even features idyllic apple orchards along the fairways. While the rustic charm can be enchanting, don't let it distract you too much from the challenging layout. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed throughout and brooks and ponds come into play on several holes. The third hole is one of the toughest on the golf course. It is the longest par-3 with a pond that runs all along the right side from tee to green and trees and a tricky bunker to the left.

Fantastic - but no drink cart service?
Course was is in great shape. Greens were slightly slow but we played later in the day, so maybe that’s to be expected.
Reception at pro shop was nice and starter was informative and friendly. We teed off at 3:20 and had a group of 3 in front. They played very fast and pace of play was awesome. We finished in 3 hours and 50 minutes! Fantastic!
My only complaint - It was about 29C and humid. Drink cart came on 2nd hole and we bought some beers. Then it came again on the 4th hole and said that’s it for the night. They shut the drink cart down at 4.00pm. They did ask us if we wanted anything else so that was good. Maybe I should have tipped bigger when I bought the first round. But I thought closing down drink service at 4.00 pm on a super hot day was a little offside.
Other than this minor complaint it was an awesome day. Course was in great shape, we got to hit some practice balls at the range at no extra cost, and the pace of place was great. One other thing - partly due to the surrounding community, and the clientele it serves, Lora Bay has that private club feel, even though it isn’t. It’s really nice.
I will be back as Lora Bay is awesome in the fall.
Beautiful golf experience
Unbeatable value in a very well maintained course.
What an absolute disappointment
We were told multiple times that our pace of play was too slow due to complaints from the threesome behind us. Yet, when we offered - multiple times - to let the group behind us play through, the Marshall told us letting them play through wouldn’t matter because they would just be behind the next foursome. So how is this our problem? Absolute disappointment for the money. Greens were beat up too. Not worth the money, especially when the attitude was so negative towards us. Will not be back.
Outstanding course
Lora Bay a joy to play. Course in great condition. Staff are friendly and helpful. Starters were funny and informative. Food excellent. My only issue was there was no place to fill up water bottles. I even asked the check in attendant. They said nowhere. They said i could buy water. Lora Bay should invest in a water dispenser.
Tremendous Golf Experience
Just an amazing golf experience … incredibly friendly staff and a beautiful golf course. Unbelievable golf setting. Can’t say enough our day today.
Excellent Course
I’d highly recommend this course. Beautiful course and in great shape!
Great Course!
Fantastic track! Beautiful scenery on holes! Great layout and well kept!! Person working the bag drop was very rude and belittling in conversation.. everyone else was very friendly and welcoming!
Stopped Playing After 9 Holes
After 9 Holes of pure agony with multiple foursomes backed up in front of us including the foursome in front of us taking 8 to 10 shots each on every hole! The Marshal tried to speed people up with no effect. 2 :50 hours to play nine holes.
Tee box after tee box we waited until the foursome in front was on the green. We would complete the hole , arrive at the next to find them just teeing off. No sense of etiquette or ready play.
We tried to play through at.the 10th and ran into a belligerent individual who would not concede. Very frustrating to play catch-up see such conditions.
We left the course and the staff at the club house were completely understanding and provided us 18 hole rain cheques. Very appreciated as I only asked for 9 Hole rain cheque’s.
My suggestion to the club is to have at least 3 Marshals, insist and remind players that the 18 holes have a max time of 4:20 hours and the expected playing time is 4:10 hours.
Perhaps they might also consider 15 Minutes between tee times, restrict group play to weekday afternoons only and absolutely enforce people to pick up the ball and move on
