Rain check policy
Because I prepaid, I get to the course and they tell me the cart is $30 extra, so I pay it. Then as I am about to tee off I am told that there is no rain check policy. I played in a thunderstorm, my stupidity. Then while there is lightning in the area we are told that we can continue at our own risk. I continued along with most because I just spent $78. And I had only reached the 2nd hole.
stop being so cheap GolfNorth
downpour and lightning and siren on our 5th hole. Course under water and greens looked unplayable. Clubhouse was refusing to give rain checks because of Covid??!? Very disappointing, you blew the warning siren GolfNorth and now you don't want to give a rain check. I would gladly return if given the opportunity but now question whether any GolfNorth property is worth visiting when I have other choices
Golfnorth is going to lose customers with rain check policy
Thundering and lightening rolled in by 6th hole. Siren/horn sounded by clubhouse. Drove in and decided to stop round. Guess what....Golfnorth originally was not going to offer rain checks. Crazy...would you not return to a club if they gave you a full rain check instead of an angry customer who will never return and tell 10 other people. Don't be so cheap Golfnorth.
Rained Out
We got rained out after two holes and we were told we weren’t getting a rain check. Not sure if you read these but I’ve played over 20 rounds at golf north courses this year and I am not happy. I will be calling to to get a rain check. I would hope that you’d offer one.
Forgiving but challenging
Fairways are wide but if you miss them you are punished. Really nice layout
Bad
Golf north are just trying to make extra money. Had to wait because there is not if enough carts. No way this course should be played in 5 hours. This is not the first time with golf North. It was so much better with tee off times at 10 minutes a part. Greedy
Etiquette sorely lacking
Walked it in extreme heat. Will never admit that the heat got to me, but the heat got to me.
Another thing that got to me was the lack of golf etiquette demonstrated, some allowed by management and some encouraged. Greens were torn up with unrepaired ball and spike marks. Yup, clearly saw evidence of someone wearing metal spikes. Some areas of the fairways were scarred with unreplaced divots. Bunkers were concrete. No rakes, so they aren't getting maintained by the players, but also looks like maintenance staff aren't getting out there to groom them either.
After the round, I complained in the pro shop about a group playing loud music and yelling over it on the course. I was informed that they not only allow that, but they encourage it. They even sell Bluetooth speaks for the carts! Call me a traditionalist, but the joy of golf comes from challenging par to the subtle sounds of nature. Party somewhere else.
Sweltering Day
In day interesting challenging course - a bit dry on several holes but could have been the recent heat
Challenging but forgiving
Fairways in great condition. Course is challenging but at the same time forgiving for modest miss hits.
Definitely worth playing.
Downhill
Course has slipped very bad n many ways , no carts , behind 30 mins to tee off . Very dry and. Grass brown and dead
Don't walk this course
I arrived (before my paired group) and was told there were no more carts available only to see everyone in my group with a cart.
This course is extremly long and dififcult to walk (and I walk my home course five days a week ... and it's pretty long). Crazy long walks to one, two and 18.
Driving range facility and chipping greens are not very well maintained (balls are new and shiny though). Driving range is super short and you are hitting uphill ... bizarre.
Two of the people I was paired with were late so the starter made us wait unitl another pair was ready (becasue she said we all had to be foursomes) and then let a twosome go out behind us.
There were at least twenty people waiting by the starter ... way too many during Covid times. The starter complained about it but did nothing to rectify the issue.
There appeared to be marshall types all around the course but didn't seem to be making an effort to keep the pace moving.
Confusion with coupons
Great round at Grey Silo with a coupon from Golf Now. However, the coupon was supposed to include a free basket of practice balls, and the pro shop staff charges us for them. Lack of clarity around use of coupons and lack of concern for respecting the coupon on staff’s part was frustrating.
