Stay out of the fescue
Tee to green, the course is in excellent condition. The fescue has grown wild, if you get in there, you will not find your ball. The bunkers are not being maintained, so a free lift is permitted. It's still a very good course.
Still a great track
The wind was up as would be expected at a links course. You can tell the course hasn't been played much this year because of it's management uncertainty. They have continued to maintain greens and fairways though which means they're in excellent condition from lack of traffic. The bunkers however have been completely forgotten and should be treated as ground under repair. I still hope this course makes a comeback next year as I always enjoy playing there.
Disappointed but OK.
No club house no beverage cart. Greens and fairways very good. Traps unplayable, do to no sand, weeds and rocks.
dissapointed
Very sad a great course declining to this point .Although the course is being maintained to playable condition there is No Beverage Cart on Course and Restaurant and Bar is closed .Why are you open at all ? Will not be back with this kind of operation in place .
14 handicap
This course is magic and glad it has re-opened.....
always wind and when you find the fescue just drop a ball...watched 4 guys looking in 3-4 foot grass...just play on.....
245 par 3 a 5 iron wind behind...driver wind against
Great track but bring food.....
Overall the golf course is in great shape the greens are fast and true! Pace of play was good on the front nine but we hit a wall on the tenth tee and the pace slowed down. Overall I recommend this course and have told friends to play here
Hopefully better next year
Course has had some work done to it, so holes aren't properly laid out and it had just rained but the fairways were very soggy and the bunkers were concrete.
Hopefully next year they have their liquor license back and open up the kitchen. If not, will likely not go back.
down hill fast
no , cart for drinks , no hot food , place is closing up , greens were surprisingly good , fairways good , bunkers NOT GOOD , a shame course is closing ...was a nice place , will be back for 1 more ,before season ends, no leaves to worry about in fall bring food and drink with us il
So much potential
While the greens are excellent, and the fairways are in good shape, the condition of the fescue and sand traps leaves a lot to be desired. Sandtraps..basically holes without sand. Understand that this would be because of current ownership conditions. And off the fairways needs to be worked on. The course layout is very challenging. Be advised this is not one for short hitters.

All course good conversation
And natural.
I am very happy playing this course.
Great Course...Save it by telling them not to build over it
I love Hunter's Pointe. I rediscovered it this year and it is a wonderful layout and great value. The sad thing is that this might be the last season for this great course as the developer who just bought it is thinking of building houses on the course. Call and thell them to save the course!

Not really playing fair
Hunters Point closed the course and the club house then reopened the course only - presumably to make some return. The beautiful clubhouse is closed as are all the change rooms and facilities. The pro shop is devoid of merchandise and the two staff - although super friendly have been given a thankless job. We arrived and they had no carts - waited about 45 mins till someone came in. The course, which we love, was not being kept properly - tee markers mixed up - well you get it. This is not really the club to expect - so don't go
Unknown at time of booking
It was not mentioned that the coarse might be closing. There club house was closed and there was no liquor license for the premises. Staff was very nice and accommodating
A Great Links Challenge in Welland!
This was the first time that I have played Hunter's Pointe in over a decade and I will be sure to go back. The course was in great shape even though the area had about three inches of rain in the few days prior to when we played. The greens were true and they still were quick.
This course is challenging. You must be able to work the ball both ways and place the ball in specific spots and at specific distances if you are going to score here. There are some forced carries and blind tee shots as well as some blind approaches. It isn't outrageously long but it is long where it needs to be and if you spray the ball, bring another few sleeves along for the trip!
Overall this course is s true test of links style golf. I can't wait to go back and play there again!
Glad it is open again!
Glad to see this course is open again but only for golf, no clubhouse which is a shame. The course is up for sale, hopefully new owners will re-open the clubhouse. They do give you water but best to bring your own cold water and food. Bring lots of balls, the sand traps are not maintained and I lost a ball in the deep water of a sand trap. I also left my wedge behind, nobody has turned it in after 1 week so I am losing hope!
