About
The Heron Course is one of two 18-hole courses at Cardinal Lakes Golf Club. It is the club's newer championship layout, designed to complement the original course, the executive-length Sparrow. It is 6,765 yards from the back tees but it feels as though it is considerably longer since many holes play into the prevailing wind. The golf course combines elements of classic links, parkland, and Carolinian courses. The generous fairways are guarded by bunkers and the large, fast greens are gently contoured and surrounded by trees. Water is a prominent feature throughout, coming into play on all but four holes. The layout saved the most challenging for last with its signature 18th hole, a par 3 with a tricky island green.

Pleasantly Surprised.
Course was great. All staff and marshal were excellent. Course is long for the average Joe but getable. Will definitely play here again.
Warm day of golf
Course layout good. Zero amenities on the course just port a potties . When you play this course expect to use them as you don’t go by club house till you are done .
Good course
This was my third time playing the Heron course. Greens are faster than most in the area and roll true. Some tee boxes were a little rugged, but overall an enjoyable round. My only complaint is that as a US visitor, this is the only course I’ve played in Ontario (and I’ve played most) where I can’t enter a score into the USGA handicap system or get a course adjusted handicap. Not really an issue I suppose.
The Course was fine. GolfNow screwed us.
There weren't really any issues with the course. It was a good day.
However, GolfNow charged us their service fees and there was ZERO discount to play. We could have paid less, at full price, if we had booked through the course. I am very disappointed in GolfNow. They used to be very good.
course was being aerated and we were not advised
5 of the greens were not playable. They had been aerated but not rolled. Players should be advised so they could decide in advance weather to play. First four holes were ruined.
Bad form!
Course layout is grest balance of green were in great shape and quite fast.
Disappointing first experience.
Twilight Round
A 3:40 pm tee off was booked , course wasn’t that busy so we teed off about 10 minutes early. Course plays tough & long with almost always windy conditions. Greens were in great shape.
I walked while my other two friends rode a cart. Easy walk as it’s very flat but a long walk in the hot humid conditions.
I will be back to try & shoot better on the front 9… back 9 was about average for me with a score of 40
Set tee times 11 minutes apart
They set tee times too tight to each other it’s a gorgeous course just need to set a better gap. Also get the Marshall to actually speed up the pace for the slower groups within reason. Some really cool younger members there that can crush the ball. Cart girl was awesome very good. All in all great course just needs a few touches.
This course is good
Everything else are good, just need a simple map indicating route and OB.
