BEWARE - 5+ hour rounds
Want to let you know up front that if you're playing on the weekend, get ready for a 5+ hour round.
The website says it. The scorecard says it. But why? But why does a round here have to be 5+ hours?
I have no idea but it is. Also the rangers are toothless when it comes to enforcing fast play.
How significant is this?
The front 9 was moving really good. One golfer in our group was +3 for the front 9.
We make the turn and -BAM- 20 minute wait on #10 tee.
More waiting on #11.
More waiting on #12.
You get the idea.
The same golfer that was +3 on the front 9 when we were moving? Shot a +10 on the back from all the delays.
The front took 2 hours to play. The back 9 took 3+ hours.
Oh, forgot to mention. Boulder Creek scheduled a scramble between 7-9am on a Saturday morning.
As much as I want to like the course, the pace of play is going to hold me back from playing it again.
Good course conditions and exceptional staff. Pass of play horrible
Greens were in decent shape and fairways were ok. Pace of play horrible over 5 hours for 18 holes
Used to be phenomenal - not sure what happened
This is a great course and still is..However the maintenance of the course is very poor. I can sum it all up with - there are plastic cigarette disposal bins located on each tee box! Nothing says classy like that!
Not sure what happened - it used to be amazing and one of the signature courses in the area. But the lakes/ponds are filled with pond scum, the bunkers are unplayable - meaning there is grass and weeds growing in them (regardless of covid - they could easily be maintained before the day starts) The signature waterfall is rusted and an eyesore on the par three 7th.
Overall, it is still a great course and challenging layout - I just hope the maintenance of the course, or lack there of is temporary.
Keep it under the hole and sit back in awe of the views
I’ve never played Augusta but this course has some holes that had me think “is this Augusta freaking national?” Course is a tough track. Keep your ball in the fairways or be prepared to battle tree trouble. Elevations throughout make the views memorable and the greens are lightning fast with a lot of undulations. Must stay beneath the hole to give yourself a shot at one putt. We played at 6:54am and course had a lot of dew but expected at that time. Overall great track. Do yourself a favor and take in the view coming off of 16.
Great Course!
Would recommend to anyone who likes to golf!
Has tees for all skill levels. It is a must play for Northeast Ohio. Book a tee time today you will not regret it!
Pleasure
Came out from NJ and snuck away to play a round here. Beautiful course. Wish players would repair the wounds on the greens, but that’s not the courses fault.
Destination type course, friendly staff, nice amenities
This is a course we look forward to playing every year. We love the variety of holes and scenic views. However, after 4+ hours and only finishing the 13th hole, we finished our Sunday mid-afternoon round. Every hole was packed, we waited on every shot, and it seemed everyone else was waiting too. We were amazed at the number of balls marks that no one apparently tried to repair. This is a great course, and golfers should give it the respect and care it deserves. I wish the ranger had the authority to address and, perhaps, remove golfers who don't deserve to play such a fine course. Also, it may be helpful if management spread tee times more than they did yesterday.
Beautiful Course
This course had the nicest scenery, and the holes were still a good challenge. Super friendly staff, the place was clean and everyone followed the covid-19 guidelines and they have all the practice and training amenities you could want. Well worth the price and the pace of play was perfect. The restaurant/ bar was just as awesome. Couldn't ask for much more from a course!
Boulder Creek is a fun round
Always a fun round @ Boulder Creek: good par 5s & par3s, and interesting mix of par4s. Most greens are huge, so a club's difference depending on the pin position. This day, short-front was pretty soft & no bunnyhop rollups. Putting is always a challenge on these greens, gauging distance & unseen breaks. They were not "fast", but avoiding a 3-jack was beyond this yipper. Perfect weather, and Thanx to GN for nice Hot Deals special. Now, I have to come back to redeem my poor scorecard.
Not sure what the ranger was doing
A ranger came around asking us what was wrong with the pace of play, after explaining that the group two ahead of us was the root cause of this, nothing changed. Another ranger informed us that we were going to need to speed up and be off before leagues came on. Upon asking if they had addressed pace of play with the group slowing everyone down, he didn’t know what we were talking about. Round took over 5:15 with two groups on almost every tee box from 6 through 18.
Very Fun Lay Out
I’ve played quite a number of courses this year (including 5 in Scottsdale). This was easily one of the most fun layouts there is. Elevation changes, a few forced carries, island greens, some I dare ya challenging go for glory shots. Wish I was hitting the ball better the day I played. Great driving range, great pro shop, everyone was friendly. Can’t wait to get back to Boulder Creek.
Must play
Course was great. Conditions were great. Greens were beautiful. We played back to front. Our front was a great pace. Back was SLOW. People at course were very nice.
Top 5
Simply put, one of the top 3 courses, I've ever played on aesthetically, competitively and skillfully.
A Stunning Challenge
What a beautiful and challenging course! Played the Front 9 on a perfect weather day. Amazed at the contour changes and often-narrow fairways...well suited for a player who can pick his spots and think their way out of trouble.
Great staff! Friendly and honest - they found and returned my range finder as soon as I finished the round.
