Greens and Course in Rough Shape
Greens were very very bar - random spots on every hole had significant ground under repair
Course needs a lot of care
The greens are in poor condition and fairways have been punched so they are in extremely bad shape. There is no way Bryson will do a video here anytime soon. I would save my money.
Need bathrooms
My wife and I played and the only bathroom that is around is around club house and that slows everything down. Needs a couple of more bathrooms around course.
Greens are in rough shape…
I’ve played at Southern Oaks probably a dozen times the last year or so. It’s usually in decent shape— especially for the cost. I hadn’t been there for a few months, and unfortunately this was the worst condition I’ve seen it in. The fairways & tee boxes definitely aren’t perfect, but they’re totally playable given the cost to play here. The greens, on the other hand, were abysmal— most of them are quite literally just unplayable. I’m guessing it’s because we had a rough winter? But still, it’s now May & this seems to be a problem with whoever they have on their grounds crew. I really like this course, so I hope they get things sorted out for the summer, or the years to come!
Low Value for the Dollar
I’ve played here several times, albeit less and less over the past year and a half. They keep finding ways to make the green fees low value for what you spend.
Pace of play is a nightmare here on weekends, so I opted to take a Tuesday afternoon off and come play. I was alone, so I know to take my time because of groups ahead. That’s fine. But when there 12TH TEE BOX IS STACKED FOUR GROUPS DEEP ON A TUESDAY AFTERNOON, it’s time for the marshal to tell the lead group to skip two holes, not “play faster”.
I threw in the towel after 11 holes because it grates me so bad to burn vacation time to sit on a poorly marshaled course waiting 30 minutes to hit. Waste of time and waste of money.
Fairways were meh. Quite a few bare spots but still playable.
Greens look like they are being overhauled. Super sandy and like a plinko board on about half of the front nine.
It is such a pity this place isn’t run better.
course needs better grass
greens are needing time and special care to recover from previous times I have played there.
About half of the greens are spoty bare and grass. The other half of the greens are more playable.
Been playing here for about 5-6 years and I’ve never seen it this bad
I think it’s weird that they don’t have a rate for walking and a rate for driving a cart, I’ve never been to a course like that. The pace of play is the only thing I would say is good about here, patchy spots everywhere, no sand in the bunkers, the greens are like putting on carpet with legos scattered around, I play from the tips and try to find challenging courses that are in good shape but this one was challenging because of how bad it was. Would not recommend
Almost 3 hrs for 9 holes
This course has really gone downhill the last 5 years .we quit after 9 hole would've been at least a 5 1/2 hrs round of golf .
Bad shape for a good course
Whereas I have played this course before and loved it, on this occasion, not so much. The greens were in horrible shape and very much a problem to putt on.
You would think the course would let you know beforehand but we were not told anything until the 1st tee Marshall let us know. Also, the Senior tees have been taken away so it made the course too long for me from the whites and too short from the reds. I have never heard of a course doing that and not sure why it was done here.
This is/was one of my favorite courses and now I do not see coming back again.
Fun to play!
Everything was great with the exception of the greens being in very poor condition and there were several places near fairways that had exposed rock or hard pan dirt.
