About

Holes 18
Type Public/Municipal
Par 72
Length 7024 yards
Slope 130
Rating 74.2

Nestled along the banks of its namesake Hidden Creek, this is a links-style/traditional combination that rolls through oak and mesquite groves. The fairways are narrow and trees line every hole. The greens are fast and huge, and lakes come into play frequently along with numerous dogleg fairways. The course was designed by Stephen D. Plumer, who incorporated a few split fairways to spice up the layout.

The best hole is the 448-yard No. 8, which forces at least a 230-yard tee shot over water to a tight landing area and an approach down the dogleg-left fairway to a multi-tiered green.

Getting there : From I-20, take I-35 south, and drive 10 miles to Renfro Rd. Stay on the access road and the course is on the right side.

Not bad for the money

Cost is reasonable for course. Fairways hard, cost saving lack of watering probably, numerous bare areas in periphery of some fairways that doesn’t come into play unless you can’t keep it in play. Greens are fine even with a little Poa Anna. Clientele is run of the mill with only mild lack of etiquette

The course was in decent condition

Some of the greens were in rough shape as well as the tee boxes. Need better monitoring of pace of play. There were 2 twosomes and a single player in front of our foursome that was holding up the pace.

What was i thinking playing on a weekend.

This is a fun challenging course. You can tell they are working on the course and hopefully the fairways will continue to improve.

Now the not so good. If you plan to play on a weekend pack a lunch and probably dinner. Its not uncommon to have a five hour round. Only wish the marshalls would help speed up play.

Pace of play

Pace of play was very slow. People in front of us were trying to give lessons when they also need to take lessons. No marshal to regulate the pace. GPS on cart showed we were 53 minutes behind pace of play as we had to wait on every tee box for the foursome in front of us. People also need to play from the appropriate tee boxes

Not bad for the price paid

Clean facility, friendly staff and a nice pros hop with plenty of options. Greens were in pretty good shape, Tee boxes could use some TLC and the cart paths have lots of drop off and could use some dirt or other maintenance on the boarders.

Could be better

I get that it's February and we're playing, but the tee boxes are in rough shape as are the greens. Pace of play is too fast to enjoy the game. The cart paths need a lot of repair too. Range balls are scattered everywhere on the course. More par 3's than I expected. I picked up trash, alcohol bottles and beer cans all over the course, which tells me how the people that play here respect the course, or how little time employees have to care for it. Burleson must have capital to improve this course.

Gem of a course!

Loved this course! Such a steal if you’re willing to drive out of ftw. Course was in pretty decent condition considering it was covered in ice 5 out of the last 10 days. The biggest/craziest compliment is the pace of play. I think we actually entered a time-space continuum; we never saw another golfer after we teed off. Perfectly paced. It’s really great. 6/5. Also shoutout to the young man cleaning carts- he caught my pullover I left in the back of the cart. We will definitely be regulars now.

Decent Course when it’s in shape

Not the greatest shape in the fall, a ton of erosion and muddy areas. Greens are pretty nice though and fast when dry. The course has been better to play when it’s in shape, normally in the Spring

Locking Carts

The carts locked us out multiple times even on the cart path. I don’t care if their software was not working, they wouldn’t give our money back. Also they had cart path only on 3 holes on front 9 including a PAR 5?! Don’t play this course unless you plan on walking

Great Course

It was a great course to play at. Greens were great. A few tee boxes were extremely dry that we could barely get our tee in the dirt. And there was range balls throughout the course from the front 9 to the back. Was very odd.

Still would recommend for the price

Great layout, mid tier conditions

Love the layout and you must be strategic off the tee. Greens were inconsistent with weeds popping through, several tee boxes were rock hard, and middles of fairways were soaked from uneven watering.

Could be a top 10 DFW course with improved upkeep because the layout is that good.
