General George V. Underwood, Jr. Golf Complex - Sunset Course
About
Set on the grounds of Fort Bliss, Underwood sells itself as an affordable alternative to the other El Paso courses, as well as a place for the high handicapper to learn the game. This facility has two regulation 18-hole courses: the Sunset, a parkland-style track, and the Sunrise, a newer, desert-style course.
Sunset, built in 1934, is an easier, flat course, void of water hazards. The front nine is loaded with three par 5s over 500 yards, including the monster 574-yard No. 9. The back nine plays shorter with three par 3s and two par 5s. Hole 11 is the toughest par 4, a 452-yard dogleg right, but the other 4-pars are all under 400 yards.

Bad Course . It should be closed! Not worth it to have it open
The greens are super bad . Its not even worth it putt on the greens “. Fairways are in bad conditions ! Grass is long and full of weeds. I will never play at that course again . The “marshal” very rude . I will not recommend this course to anyone at all
Sunset Course has some long fairways
Greens were rough and appeared to have been aerated in recent past. The fairways and rough needed more attention. We’d played here before and conditions were similar.
The golf now tee time was a very good deal.
Course Review
The course could be improved, if the management will clear the course with dead trees and cut the tall grass
Its a nice course overlooking the mountains
Hope management will clear up the course
Thank you
Poor conditions
Lots of high grass zones, difficult to locate balls
Worst course ever
Fairways were mostly dirt yet there were random spots all over the course where the irrigation was leaking, creating mini swamps. Lady behind the bar was just plain nasty
Disappointed
This course used to be so nice. The last two visits have been horrible. There’s marsh in the middle of the fairway and all around the greens. You don’t have to hit in the rough to lose a ball! No, they’re sitting water that smells like sewage in the greens are horrible right now so disappointing discourse used to be really nice.
Good Day
Weather was benevolent, the heat was tolerable and a nice breeze helped to enjoy a nice day of golf. This was my first time in this course and I actually enjoyed it very much. I will definitley be back.
Coming back to it's intended course
The greens are finally maturing and getting rid of the fungus and the fairways are finally getting some water upon them and green it up.
Pretty good course
Has plenty of trees and the greens are nice. Some areas had puddles of water and would slow down or get you ball stuck. For the most part very fun course to play.
Sunset
The course was in horrible shape, we really should have asked for our money back and left, really bad
