River at Pecan Valley Municipal Golf Course
About
The River Course, the older of the two courses at Pecan Valley, was designed by Ralph Plummer, who made it playable for the average hack. Although two of the par 3s play well over 200 yards (Nos. 6 and 7), three of the par 5s are under 480 yards.
Getting there : This course is located on Lakeside Dr. in Fort Worth, just a few miles from I-10.

Pleasant surprise
It was a little damp with scattered showers but the course was a pleasant surprise. Nothing overly challenging but it had some nice dog leg holes and shot placement needed off some tee shots. Some greens had a small weed problem and teesee needed some cutting but greens were receptive and rolled true. Will be back to play the river course.
Hills Course Pecan Valley
Course in great condition-- appreciated signs posted telling the hole number-rest rooms clean.
One water fountain had warm water-other one had cold water.
Will return again.
Great shape
Great shape, greens were consistent but medium speed
Great shape
The River course is in great shape. Especially with all the heat we have had. This course is one of my favorite in this area. If you get a hot deal you need to take it!
Quick round on a saturday
Pace of play is the story. I played with my wife in her first 18 ever and finished in 3 hours 20 minutes. Marshals move pace along great
The Hills
The course is actually pretty good. The greens are well maintained as well as the fairways. We actually arrived early. Seeing that there was no one on the course we thought we might go to the first hole to see if we could get off. There was literally no one on the course so we felt like we could go ahead and tee off; however, one of the staff members specifically rode her cart to our position and told us we had to wait until our tee time. I think there is no doubt we were asked to wait because we used golfnow so we waited until the staff told us we could go. If you use golfnow, you will be required to wait for your tee time even though no one may be on the course. No common sense or courtesy will be extended.
Just So-So
This is the sister course to the River Course, which I have not played but it can be seen from the entry road and looks like it is in much better shape than the Hills. Several Greens were under "maintenance", was aggravating as it messed up my approach strategy. All in all, it's a good value I suppose.
Not as good as it used to be...
In the past, I loved playing the River course. You could always tell that the city put the money needed into it to make it a great track from tee to green. But, when I played it most recently, it was in the worst conditions I have seen there. The tee boxes were not manicured, the bunkers had no sand in them, weeds everywhere and the greens were beyond bumpy. I do not know what happened, every other course in the area is in great shape but this one seems to be struggling.
This course was an old time favorite
First thing is they raised the price of their green fees. Ok whatever , BUT , the tee boxes were trashed , then the fairways were hard pan with not a hint of growing grass and not one decent lie on any of the fairways ! The greens were totally horrible . Sparce , bumpy, and borderline unplayable , and for all this we paid $40 each . Such a disappointment since most of the other courses around are in good condition. The condition of this course completely ruined our weekly outing with the golf buddies ! We will never return until maybe the course manager has a clue what fertilizer is used for !!!
PV Hills
A quite acceptable muni for mid to high handicap golfer. Staff much better than several years ago.
Excellent golf course, Highly recommended.
This was my first time playing pecan valley. I am by no means a good golfer, but this course was challenging but not too intimidating to hit over a water hazard. The course was very well maintained. The greens were slower in the morning, but became really fast and unpredictable by comparison later in the day. This is a great value for a round of golf at one of the better maintained courses in the DFW area. I would highly recommend trying it out if you have not played there.
This course was OK
Paid $39 and not worth that price.
Great play at The River
Great pace of play, friendly staff, good condition of course
Good friends on a course
Enjoyed the course with 2 good friends. We each had some good and bad holes. Greens were fast, had to get used to them. Over all we enjoyed the course. Beer was cold in the restaurant.
Not Terrible
Played this course because I caught it on a deal. The course itself is pretty friendly to golfers not hitting it perfectly on every shot. The greens were surprisingly nice. They rolled true even though the course was still in winter conditions. More open than the "River" side the "Hills" is still plenty good enough for some enjoyment. The overall price is reasonable for a municipal course. The staff was courteous. If the price is right I wouldn't have a problem playing here again.
Jewel of Fort Worth
Great Value. River course is well established with varying layout of holes. Fairways were in good condition and the greens were firm and fast.
Good condition for winter
Fun & challenging. Should rename "Hills" course to "Lakes"!!! Think as many or more water crossings in play than hills.
Played many times.
A good course, very good for a municipal. If i could change something...2 and 15 need to go back to being par 5s.
