The Golf Club At Fossil Creek
About
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, the links-style Golf Club at Fossil Creek was nominated by Golf Digest as one of the best new public golf courses in Texas when it opened in 1987, and has lived up to that advance billing since then. The course is scenic, with massive trees, limestone bluffs, bubbling creeks, and numerous lakes that bring water into play on 15 of 18 holes. The course boasts pretty rolling fairways and 18 testing holes all intertwined throughout streams created by Fossil Creek. It's surrounded by rocky-ledged creeks and crystal lakes.

Overbooked
We were waiting from the first tee box on. Some holes would have 4 groups on it. Carts are in poor condition. After 5.5 hours, we left with 2 holes to play.
Decent course Terrible pace of play
The course was in decent condition. There were no Marshalls out on the course. Multiple holes with two sometimes three groups backed up. 5 1/2 hour round. I would expect more with the 85$ price tag. Drinks overpriced, 40+ for three drinks.
Top Notch!
Course is in excellent condition. Just enough water and bunkers to make it challenging but very playable for the average player.
5 hour pace of play
Was given a gas cart where everyone else had electric, cart was not good. Our tee time was 12:24 and we went out at 12:45. Really liked the course but how can you get in a rhythm when you’re sitting for almost 5 minutes before every shot? For all of this the cost of $75 per player does not equate. Will not be back.
Great course!
Course was in great shape. First few greens were bumpy then the rest were good. Course doesn’t require driver on many of Par 4s. Strategic golf is required. Enjoyed my round of golf!!
May 2022
Nice course and better value for money than say Bear Creek. Lots of difficult water hazards presented by the creek and a few too many ships required as a result. But overall well maintained and a very beautiful course.
Pace of Play / Greens
The course is in the worst shape I have ever seen it. Municipal courses are in better shape. The greens are mostly dirt which causes the ball to bounce and go in weird directions
Not only is the course in terrible shape, but they allow groups of 6 to play together. The group in front of us look like they were trying to pretend they were DeChambeau by teeing off from the forward tees and waiting until the group of 6 were off the green so that they could attempt to drive the green. I can confirm, they never made it.
This course offers one of the most expensive fees in town and for the expense you get to play for 5 1/2 hours!!
Slow but great
Course was in great condition. The greens were a bit sandy and fast. Played on a Friday, it was super slow. We tee’d off at 8 and didn’t finish until 12:30.
Great Day
Had a great time. Course and staff were great. Pace of play was a little slow, but not to bad
Nice layout
I’ve played this course several times and enjoy the layout.
It’s challenging but fair to an average golfer. I will admit however that this last time, I was not impressed with the course conditions. The tee boxes where not plush and it seemed that the grounds crew did not come by to pick up broken tees all over the place. The fairways were not in great condition and there were many bald spots on several greens. Quite frankly, I was disappointed. Some of the golf carts had cracked windshields, worn tires and some ripped or worn seats. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and accommodating!
My overall impression is that the course is not getting the maintenance it deserves and it’s a bit pricey for what you are getting. I hope that much needed care is paid to this course because with such, it has the potential to be a fine gem in the Fort Worth area!
Greens Being worked on
Still one of the best places to play in the DFW. Greens are look rough as of 20220430. Lumpy and hard, covered in sand. Putts rolled pretty true where the flags were located. Still Not bad for $70 on a Saturday morning.
