Great Course
This course is in good condition & the scenery is always a plus! The addition of the large clock & surrounding rock garden is very nice & indicative of the extra touches you get when playing at LBJ. The staff are friendly & accommodating. Will definitely be back every chance I get.
Very slow
Played on Sunday with my son. The course was in good shape considering the drought we are in. Enjoyed the layout but the pace of play was horrible. Left after 12 holes as every tee box was backed up 2-3 groups waiting. There are far too many walking the course and it slow the rounds to a crawl. Also many groups of 5 which further compounds the slow play.
Improvements in Progress
The staff was very friendly and the new grill was a nice addition. We were disappointed in the condition of some greens. Some had just been aerated, and some were very rough temporary greens. Overall, still a good course for the price.
Great shape
This course was in great shape considering the drought we been in.
Sad victim of heat
Lady Bird is a good lay out with friendly staff but with two temporary greens, Half the fairways are fried, the greens bumpy and some spotty. It is not currently a great place to play.
It also should be noted there is no drinking water on the course and signage is poorly placed for you to find the next hole.
Golfing
I have played this course around five times and this was the worst shape I’ve ever seen it. The person working on the greens did a terrible job. The front nine is closed due to bad conditions but the the way the back nine was it should be closed also. I know there’s a drought but seems like it would be in better shape. Not worth the Five hour drive to get here.
Wait on this one
Course is in terrible shape. Two temporary greens (which they did not alert us of when we made our reservation) plus just pretty burned up. Assuming due to the hot weather and drought but other courses are surviving better. The greens that were "playable" were either shaggy and slow putting or full of crab grass and bare spots. I have always heard this was a really good course but after this experience, I doubt I will ever go back.
Don’t waist your time
This is a typical muni course but we were stunned that for the money we paid there were temporary greens and the GPS didn’t work. Would not wish this course on my worst enemy.
Some interesting holes. Rolling terrain. On this date front nine greens hit hard with what appears to be a fungus. Back nine greens good. Couple of moderate forced tee shot carries. Would play again when temp is less than 100 deg. Gas carts, prefer electric.
Lost their greens
I am a muni golfer my whole life and have a lot of latitude for small muni courses due to lack of funds. Having said that, the greens are unplayable. They have lost the turf and now that the hot weather is here, they will not be getting better. Hopefully there is a plan to rebuild and maintain them.
Course condition
After calling ahead to check the conditions of the course, the person at the pro shop stated the course was in “great condition” and that he “just played it yesterday.” The man also mentioned that a “few” of the greens had some dead spots.
Upon arriving to the course, I quickly realized that through the 18 holes, roughly 9 of the greens were in HORRIBLE conditions. There was hardly grass anywhere on the green. The rest of the course was decent but the greens were quite frankly unplayable. Besides that, it’s a fun course.
