Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Golf Club
       About
Thankfully Fredericksburg offers this facility as a respite from incessant turista shopping along the main drag. While not overly fancy, this little Hill Country course gets the job done while the shoppers in the family spend their days in town.
The Jeffery D. Blume-designed track plays around 6,700 yards from the tips and includes plenty of trees and water hazards that get in the way.
You’ll notice the two par 5s on the front. No. 3 is the signature, playing 523 yards and forcing a shot over a creek, and another over a bluff. No. 5 is longer, a testy 578 yards from the back.
The most difficult rated hole is the No. 9, a 425-yard par 4, but the regulars complain more about the challenging 18th, an even longer par 4 that plays 450 yards from the tips.
Getting there : The course is just south of town on the west side of the highway.

Course in great condition pace of play worst ever
The course is in really good shape. The pace on front 9 was good then hit hole 12 and there were two foursomes and a single on the tee box. From that point on waited for 15 minutes on every tee box and at least 5 more minutes between shots. Literally took 3.5 hours to play last 7 holes in 100 plus degree heat. They need a marshall on this course.
Lots of fun
Had a great time. Only complaint was pace of play due to no Marshall on the course. Cause was in great shape, good fairways and good greens.
Wish it were closer to Dripping Springs :-(
Terrific course, great layout, greens were in great shape given the hot Texas weather. Only negative is the course is too far away from my home, and I wish they could move it about 25 miles East...enjoyed the day.
Fist time playing
Was very happy with the course. Good layout, open fairways with water and bunkers. Lots of ups and downs in elevation. Severely disappointed by the pace of play and no Marshall on the course to handle the issues with slow play by a two and threesome ahead of us. Started play at 10 and finished 3. (3 players in our group). Overall happy and will play again and would recommend the course.
punched greens
Course in fine shape, however the greens were punched and sanded. Only front nine open and unwarned by GolfNow.
Great
Really enjoyed our round at Lady Bird. Course was beautiful. Can’t wait to visit again
Nice course but charges for dinking water.
They stopped putting water out for golfers(igloo) but, they will charge $2.00 for a tiny bottle.
The course is in great shape, the best it has been in a couple years.
Good Tract
Just moved to the San Antonio area and wanted to play outside of the city. Saw the course online and decide to play. Had a great time and liked the area and course. Will definitely be back
Lady Bird delight
Enjoyed the round and would definitely play again when I am here from Washington state visiting friends!!
Lady Bird doesn’t disappoint!
This is my second time playing this course. Drive an hour to get to it and I’ll be making this drive many more times this summer. The course is beautiful, challenging and it was an amazing experience. Can’t wait to make it back out again. Anyone want to join?
Fun Challenging Course
The course has interesting topography which lends to some blind Tee shots for a first time player at the course.
New course
The course was a great play compared to other courses in the area. The better ones were private. My wife & I enjoyed the course on a perfect day!
Playable
Played with another couple. Not overly challenging and was fair to the women playing. Course was in decent condition for early April. Greens are not real smooth, so putting was a challenge
Nice Course, Friendly Staff
My wife enjoyed playing this course for the first time. Overall nice lay out and the course was in good shape for this time of the year.
Almost great
I have played this course many times years back. I do like the new clubhouse and golf carts, but I wish they would have spent more money on the course itself. The greens have a weed problem that needs to be addressed, and the course is a little too sparse and hard ground in many areas.
