Freeport Municipal Golf Course
About
Freeport's muni is more of a links-style track noted for its solid par 5 holes. Water comes into play in the form of rivers and lakes, but the course isn't overloaded with water. The par 5s in question each play well over 500 yards, and they're all rated as the most difficult holes on the course. No. 9 is the longest at 557 yards, but the most difficult is No. 7 at 520 yards.
Getting there : Driving north on Hwy. 36, turn right at Slaughter Rd. You will see the course when Slaughter dead-ends.

Terrible customer service
Booke tee time drove an hr to play, people we’re teeing off on hole number one when we arrived. WAlked into club house and was told because A/c unit in club wasn’t working they were closing and would not let anyone else out on the course. Terrible customer service!!!
Fun Round
Ist time playing this course, and it was a nice surprise for being a Municipal course. The only complaints was the fairways were very wet and fuzzy, and the mosquitos were no joke. There have been very heavy rains this month, and maybe they have not been able to cut the fairways. Greens were very good.....staff extremely good. Great value for the money.......
Another windy day at Freeport track
Wind was between 10 - 15 mph and had a good round. Played in just over 3 hours, life is good. Greens could use a bit of grass, but overall course is in good shape
Old man in need of a vaccine
The staff are great. The layout is attractive however it has reached the stage of its life where $$$ needs to be invested in the bunkers, the tee boxes, and the areas around the various ponds, the practice facilities need major unpgrading. There are no on course potty johns which might discourage women too.
Terrific course! Bring some mosquito repellent.
Great Prices...Nice coastal course with plenty of wind, and water. Swampy texas coast, So beware of mosquitoes and alligators (warning signs sre numerous). I brought a small dog, and spent more time worrying about her, then concentrating on my golf game. Lol.
But the course is a gem. The fairways were in very good condition. Water hazards are on almost every hole. There were a few sand bunkers but most were filled with water.
The greens were in excellent condition, and rolled true.
We played on a nice sunny day 60's to low 70's, 10 to 15 mile hour winds, and a few holes we were attacked by huge mosquitos unaffected by the wind. So bad decided to pick up and race to next hole. Would recommend repellent here, as well as at many courses in this area as well.
Anxious to play this course again, ,mosquito repellent in hand, great value.
Great greens
For it being December the greens are full. No dead spots. Unlike some high dollar courses
Little far
Drove from Houston in 1hr 15 min. Easy drive.
It’s above average for a municipal course with great greens and areas around the green. Bunkers are good and very playable-will kept.
Fairways are ok and playable. Grass varies from Bermuda to Saint Augustine mix together.
Green fee reasonable between $10-$25.
