Great ourse
Everything was just fine. Cart girl was very nice!
Great Course
I played this course a couple of years ago and it was in horrible shape. This course is now in excellent shape. The course is one of the best courses to play in Maryland now. The only issue I have with the course is it is not taking covid-19 serious. They make you share a cart. Most courses in Maryland are practicing social distancing and letting all players have their own cart. At Mountain Branch they make you pay $20 is you want to social distance and have your own cart. Too bad, because it really is a great course in great shape.
Nice course
Always enjoy playing Mountain Branch with a good variety of holes
Great Course, beautiful
Played Mountain Branch for the first time. Course was in perfect shape. Layout was on point. I felt like the course was fair mostly, only two holes I felt weren’t great for a high handicap player. The 17th hole is too hard for the average player, having to clear a big patch of high grass and rocks off the tee is very difficult. If you can’t drive like 200 yards, you aren’t going to make it, and even if you are able to clear the waste area, you have to play the hole almost as a par 5, as there is another waste area in front of the green. However, all that said, it is a great course. I would definitely play it again.
A must play course right now.
Mountain Branch is in great shape right now and I would encourage you to play it. The course offers real challenges and requires course management. The greens rolled at a good speed. The rough is challenging at its current length and I would encourage you to keep it in the short grass!
Tough 18
Great conditions at Mountain Branch! Greens roll fast especially after getting baked in the afternoon. Good balance of tight and spacious fairways. Greens are undulating for sure. Nice elevation changes and a good course to walk. Highly recommend!
Shot makers Course.
This is a wonderful track with well-designed holes and tricky greens. It was in better condition than the last time I played here a few years ago. I will definitely be back.
Horrible pace of play service
I was stuck behind a foursome the whole time and they wouldn’t let me play through. Not only I couldn’t play through, but the staff was completely unaware of a problem even occurring because they don’t pay attention to their pace of play in the first place. I then asked if I could get a rain check for the nine that I couldn’t play because the group in front of me was so slow, and they refused to accommodate me.
Love this course
Play here 5 to 6 times a year and one of my favorite courses. Greens fast, some aerated on back 9. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. Visually some beautiful holes. Really slow dogs at the turn.
Disappointed
I would consider this my home course as I live within 10 minutes and play it several times a year. Yesterday was my first round in 3 months and I was very disappointed in a couple things. While they promote social distancing and precautions, the reality is you have to pay for it. What was advertised as 1 rider to a cart unless you could prove you lived together, was actually 1 rider per cart if you paid a $40 surcharge to ride individually. We chose to ride as individuals, so our after 3 pm round cost was $91.00. While I really enjoy this course, it’s not a $91 course at anytime and it’s disappointing they are gouging not only tee time costs, but also the precautions. I play in a group of 16 players that rotate weekly and we had planned on playing Mountain Branch next week. After advising the group of the process, it was removed from the rotation.
Good Round
Enjoyed my round of golf and the course, booked online with cart included in price however because of the mandate of safety everyone was supposed to have there own cart. Understanding that, the course wanted to charge an extra fee to do so which should have been announced beforehand. Also more distance markings need to be throughout the course. Overall, love this course!
Worth it
From the friendly staff to the amazing condition the course was in. It was worth every penny
Beautiful and Fun
I played on May 10, 2020, after a somewhat cold and rainy spring, during the Corona pandemic, a few days after golf reopened in Maryland. The course is very enjoyable, with scenic vistas, firm greens that putt true, and fairly generous fairways. A bonus is that there are no houses to be seen, and most of the course is a good distance from nearby roads. That the course was in such good shape is a testament to the grounds crew, which I understand had not been at full strength due to the pandemic. As far as the pandemic goes, the pro shop employees seemed to be very cognizant of the special rules that apply, and all were wearing masks, which I and my playing partner appreciated. The cart cleansing process, which I saw briefly at the conclusion of my round, also appeared to be thorough.
I live near DC, so why would I venture up north of Baltimore? The answer is that I did it to play with someone who drove south from Philly. (The course is located almost in the middle.) I would do it again anytime.
Great Course
Second time playing Mountain Branch and have enjoyed it both times. Course was in great shape given the time of year, and even the greens were consistent and ran true. Couple of the tee boxes we a little rough but overall the course is in great shape. Wide variety of holes which keeps the round interesting.
Mountain Branch Golf Club is a very nice course.
The course was in very good shape. The tee boxes had recently been aerated and some the grass was very thin. The fairways and greens were in very good shape. I would definitely play this course again.
