Tempest Golf Club

Very challenging course especially if you are on a bit in age and aren't used to hiking both dates I played cart path only so was very good exercise for me love the course just can't wait to play it when the cart path only is lifted will return enjoyed playing great course must do a lot of thinking on club selection on most holes or you might find your shot short of the green on your Approach shot once on the greens a real pleasure to putt rolled very true a must play if you are in the east Texas area..

Got to play Tempest again. Always enjoy the course. A little slower greens than usual.

In general I enjoyed this golf course. All staff were nice and professional. Other patrons appeared to be locals, and not too engaging. Apparently this course holds moisture. It has been almost a week since raining, and I had significant mud on my ball after almost evey shot; fairway, rough, or other. Greens were nice, but could have been quicker, but they have significant breaks and contours that would make greens extremely difficult if faster. A couple of greens are overly contoured and would have been better designed if more subtle. My only complaint is my on fault; I am not a fast player and when a group gains on me, I assume its me being slow, so I speed up. My son and I felt pressed by a twosome behind us and so I picked up our pace. We played poorly and felt like we were probably slow because of our play. Aftet 18 holes, I looked to see how long it had taken us to play... 3:15! We weren't playing slow... they were playing fast. Maybe its me, but under 4:00 seems fair for players that only play once a week at best and want to enjoy golf. I will return and try to enjoy it more.

I play 150 times a year. All different difficulty slope ratings and terrains. This is an obstacle course. If you have never played Tempest think about playing with somebody who knows what's around every corner and over every hump. I played it on a cart path only day with zero roll and plugged shots and mud everywhere.

Fairways slope toward the trouble and are kind of skinny in the right spots. Almost no flat lies anywhere. With severe slopping greens many with multiple steep tiers.

This is the biggest challenge I have had in a long time. I played many courses with slope ratings in the 140s to the high 150s that were nowhere near as challenging as Tempest.

We left there tired and beaten badly. Walking most of the steep terrain. Long second shots due to no roll just miserable. In dry conditions and a second try might bring much better results but for now this magnificent course owned me.

The 130 slope rating is nonsense. Maybe it's temporary awaiting a logical assessment.

Anyway, play on.

The course was in good shape for. early February. Fairways brown but greens we in very good condition.

One complaint. Understanding that it’s February, It is 70* (not the 100* and high humidity of August) and I did expect water jugs in the boxes on the course. I let the guy in the shop know after the 6th hole, but he acted as if I was making it up. Got a cup of water in the bar and went to the 7th tee.

Well designed Course. Greens are Super Slow however it’s Winter play. Fairways have multiple bare spots in need of grass replacement. It’s a nice course but a little too pricey to support a $90 price tag. It’s a $55 course.

Course was great. Very challenging. I had a hard time reading greens , but thats nothing new lol... got a GREAT deal on golf now app!!!

Beautiful course beyond my golfing capabilities. You know what though?! Challenge accepted. I’ll be back!! Stunning course with hills that can give you multiple lies within your round. Can’t wait to go out there again once I shave some strokes off my game…. Staff is phenomenal!

The management is by far the worst I have experienced in my 18 years of playing golf. It's really unbelievable they treat customers this way, basically play or leave it doesn't matter. FYI, they were not rude to me but to other customers that are friends of mine. As for as the course it's fabulous! Highly recommend.

Wonderful course. I was not expecting all of the scenic holes. Loved the layout and challenging approach shots. A hidden gem in East Texas. Looking forward to my next round there.
