Seems like the end of days for Richland
Does not appear that new ownership is taking care of the staff or reinvesting in the course. Felt terrible for the 2 or 3 guys that actually showed up to work today.
This morning was “get your own cart day” down at the maintenance building because most of the staff didn’t show. It’s obvious as well that the usually well manicured course, is not being looked at with the same attention. Also disheartening to see a line of people waiting for carts to return when we were done with our round.
Hollow Creek (dba Richland now) used to be an amazing experience. Now it is on its last legs.
Good
Nice course. They need to reprint their score cards to match the tee box colors.
Bad business/dishonest information
Carts in horrible shape. Then tee’d off on number one and the pro shop guy comes out and says the front 9 is closed. Back 9 only. Never said a word at the pro shop. Only after we tee’d off and PAID for full 18 hole rounds. Very dishonest advertising and communication. Whether intentional or not.
Not a good way to handle business and treat your customers.
Quick round before the rain
Played a round under damp conditions following a rainy night, but greens still were decent to put on.
Excellent Experience
The course is in great shape, in spite of Heavy use. We enjoyed the round!
No reason to have to wait 30 minutes after tee time to get a golf cart because of shortage
Above Average Course
I've seen this place go up and down over the years, currently it is in pretty nice shape, the greens currently have a few scars on them from the heat, but the fairways and tee boxes are in nice condition. It is a residential course, very narrow in places, but lots of variety to make it fun. Customer service is usually very good here, but on this day the starter was on the phone ignoring everyone for like 20 minutes, (which is out of character). They also seem to resist working in singles compared to other courses (which is why I seldom play here, because they act like it is a hassle. so I play other courses that are single-friendly). It's priced appropriately, not as nice as the top tier courses in this area, but a step up from the muni tracks, a solid medium.
Richland was in great shape. The greens were perfect running about 11 on the meter. The tees, fairways, and even the rough were in perfect condition. It is worth every penny! The layout is challenging but fair. If you get the chance, play this course, you won’t regret it.
