Maryland National Golf Club

I get the Tee Time Golf Pass every christmas from my daughters. I haven't really used it until the last few weeks. Played Maryland National last week for the first time since last year and it did not disappoint! The course was in magnificent shape! Greens were outstanding with not many unfixed ball marks. Didn't have to touch the ball in the fairway. Only a 50 minute drive from Leesburg. If I lived outside Frederick I definitely would become a member. Plan on playing it again this week

The course is amazing! One of, if not the most beautiful courses available to the public in the DMV area. Amazing use of the terrain and very challenging. You WILL lose balls here. Greens were well kept but fast. Fairways were amazing, but finding them can be a challenge if you can’t reliable shape a shot. Lots of well placed hazards and the terrain make playing the course a mental exercise. Play your lines carefully and don’t try to be a hero. I will 100% be back!

Played this course many times and never seen the traps in such condition as they were in yesterday. There was grass clippings all over them and they were not raked. Most fairways were in very good shape as most of the tee boxes. A couple tee boxes were beat up pretty good.

This area has some of the best golf in the area. The course was in great shape. Tee boxes were pristine compared to some of the courses in the DMV area. Par 3 tee boxes were also in great shape. The course held up really well with some of the wet weather we had and it drains really well. The cart path on the hill down number 6 was EXTREMELY SLICK to the point that we were crawling down the hill and still ended up sideways...kinda scary. The cart path looked recently re-done and maybe that had a factor? The other steep hills had texture on the paths that helped the wheels not slide. Other than that, the course is tough, but a nice mix of holes. Will be back when it's dry and sunny!

I've probably played 50 courses in Maryland, and this is the one I'd join if I lived closer. Nice set up for the bag drop. The young man working yesterday was awesome. The pro shop guys are friendly and upbeat. Way above average food and drink. Excellent putting and chipping area. Free range balls! The cart girl went by me 4 times on a Monday.

The perfect set-up leads to a course that is difficult, fun, with every hole offering a different challenge. Wide fairways, firm greens and excellent conditions add immensely to the golfer's enjoyment. The biggest challenge may be the uphill, downhill, sidehill lies that are everywhere. A full club difference on many shots. There is some trouble but not much water. Not many traps, but very well placed and maintained!

Take notes (at least mentally, but I put notes in my 18 birdies app) after every hole if you play here infrequently. You will play better the next time, or at least smarter. Numerous holes are easier from the left versus the right, Layup to smart places (flat, fairway, good distance.) Pins can be in tough places, and if your distances are off, say hello to the 3-putt.

Love to play Worthington Manor, Musket Ridge, Whiskey Creek, Bulle Rock, Greystone, Mountain Branch, Blue Mash, PB Dye and many others, but this is my favorite.

This was my first round here. We started a little late because of an event the course was hosting. Was a little wet, so cart paths only. This is a challenging course (I’m a 20 hcp). Beautiful views and corse layout. Would recommend and will play again

Course was in great shape, especially considering it was recently aerated. Greens rolled well. Cool layout. The issue was pace of play, 5.5 hour round. We hit back up on the 3rd hole and called to ask about a marshal. All they did was send messages to the group so we dealt with 1-2 groups per hole waiting on the tee for holes 3-18. We called again around hole 12 and there was still nothing done. Didn’t help it was bone dry by the back 9 and it was still cart path only. The told us there were 200 people out of the course so that is why it’s slow. 200 people is expected for a summer weekend, unacceptable that that is the reason for 5.5 round.

This was my first time playing this course. The course was well maintained and had beautiful views of the surrounding hills and valleys, with lots of elevation changes throughout the course. The greens were recently aerated and therefore were less than ideal for putting, but the greens fees were reduced slightly to account for the conditions. There was a "cart path only rule" in effect for all holes the day I played which impacted pace of play and made traversing the undulating fairways on foot more difficult. If you're a senior golfer you may want to check the course conditions ahead of time to avoid this issue.

Great golf course

Everything about the day and this course exceeded my expectations. I saw the ratings on here and they surpassed them. The gentlemen in the pro shop was professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. The course conditions were just about perfect. The design was very cool. I liked the elevation change and the wide fairways made it very playable. The greens were in great condition but a little on the slow side. Overall, 5 stars across the board. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area again.

A constant repeat. Our foursome has played Maryland National 6 out of the last 8 Father's Day. We simply love the course and the staff. We'll keep coming back!

The course was in Excellent shape, the staff friendly, and the pace was awesome. I played in 3.5 hours.

Course was a lot of fun and awesome layout. Would 100% recommend to a friend and hope to be back soon!

I’ve played this course many times before but I can’t remember it being in such great shape. There are about six very creative holes that ensure a memorable round. The course reflects the rolling hills and has a

mild mountain course vibe. I’m 67 and a 14 handicap I played from the senior tees which I suggest for

the first time here.

Try to play Maryland National a couple times a year. Course is always in great shape. Nice that they still include free range balls — kudos!
