Beautiful course in great condition. Not too challenging. Staff was very friendly.
Great course really enjoyed playing here for the first time
I got a hot deal so it was a bit cheaper but still the course was in great condition so much better than most of the courses in the DC area. Really enjoyed my time playing here and honestly a pretty challenging course.
Nice Course
Nice Course
It was in good condition
Only part I disliked was the rough just off the fairway.
I thought was too long about 4" deep which made it difucicult to find your ball even if it was just off the fairway.
This slowed down our round, had to spend too much time looking for either my ball or someone else in our group
Better options than this.
Clustered Spires is a relatively flat course suitable for walking. It is government owned (City of Frederick) and it is evident in the friendliness of the Pro Shop staff. When I checked in, I was bluntly informed the back nine was closed, the front none was just aerated and you must play it twice, and the practice pitching green is closed. As there was no indication of the course being aerated at booking I asked if I could get a discount on some range balls and was told 'Ah, no" . I have had similar experiences here in the past. In my opinion there are better courses in the area for less or equal money and a much friendlier staff.
Good value for green fee and course well maintained
Course was in great condition and I expect it will get even better as the season progresses. Greens rolled very well - quick and reasonable.
Par three tees closed
Paid mid season rates and the tee boxes are closed on the par 3s. Hairy greens.
Excellent Service
Clustered Spires was a fun and challenging course. The greens and fairways were especially well maintained. The course is far from my home and I forgot my rangefinder in the cart. The staff found the rangefinder and sent it back to me free of charge. I was not sure if they could send it back to me at all, so I am super impressed and appreciative of their service. Thank you so much and I will be sure to recommend the course to friends and play here again soon!
Clustered Spires Golf Course – 4.5 Stars
Clustered Spires is a very enjoyable public course that delivers great value for the price. The layout is open and inviting, making it friendly for all skill levels, while still offering enough bunkers, doglegs, and water hazards to keep things interesting. The greens are generally in good condition, roll true, and the fairways are well maintained.
The pace of play is usually solid, and the staff is courteous and helpful, making the overall experience smooth from check-in to the 19th hole. It’s a straightforward, honest course—nothing overly flashy, but reliable and consistently fun.
If you’re looking for an affordable, well-kept track in Frederick, Clustered Spires is a great choice for both casual rounds and regular play.
Clustered Spires golf course
Condition of course was great
Staff was awesome
My second time playing your course and will certainly return as often as I can
First time at Spires
Despite a tournament just before us, pace of play moved well. I really liked the layout and challenges of the holes. The only thing I didn’t like was that despite playing before 1pm we had to pay full price without a senior discount which starts at 1 pm but when my / other friends paid a few minutes later a different staff member only charged them $47 instead of $72
Course is rough
Greens are the best aspect of this course. Tee boxes need work. Fairways are as tall as the rough. The rough is thick. Bunkers are awful many of them being unplayable. Course staff was very bland don’t expect a warm welcome.
Another great day at Clustered Spires
We have alway loved the course and seniors play it at a fair price. The weather was perfect 80s, low humidity.
The fairways and tee boxes were a mess. The hot humid rainy July really took its toll. The greens were perfect which we appreciated.
My group decided early in the spring to play here once a month. We live in Howard County. We also decided to eat at your snack bar. Tara is a wonderful hostess. The food and the choices are excellent. The prices are fair. The college girls that work there are very well trained and personable. So we don't go to Five Guys or any other place nearby. We stay and have a terrific lunch at the course. This is the only course where we do this.
