Fairways
Very nice course with room to 'let er rip'. The fairways were great, first rough easy to find my ball (way too many times), but deep enough to make it interesting. The course layout had enough doglegs, long holes and tight areas to make you make your shots, but not be ridiculous to the point of not being fun. The only drawback were the greens. Many were pitted. Some of this comes from inconsiderate golfers not repairing divots or dragging their feet, but there were enough other blemishes to make putting an adventure.
Not for walking but a very nice course!
Well-kept, nice course, with great mountain views! A little hilly makes it difficult for walking.
Looking forward to playing the course again!
Overall Satisfaction.
Moving along on a good pace. Course was in very good condition even in extreme hot weather. We would certainly play this course anytime we have a chance.
Great course but Attitude of golfer a MUST.
The design and the layout of the course is fun yet challenging. Greens aren't as fast as it used to be but still has personality. Condition of golf course can be better if the member golfers, the players, try as hard as ground personnel at Richland. For the sake of others golfers and for the love of game, PLEASE... FIX YOUR divots, especially on the green. Take time to care for the course. BTW.. the course needs ball cleaner and/or cleaners.
Managed expectations
Course could be great but it appears that management/ownership has given up. The ball washers have been removed and ugly concrete pillars remain - which in itself tells that they don't care. It's a great layout and if they decide to invest once again the course could be really good
Great shape and handy cap friendly
First time playing the course. Service was a little lacking, could have used a little more help checking in and getting off. Never did find the starter… That said the course was in great shape for the 4th of July weekend. Played from the whites and found the course semi challenging for my 15 handy cap game. Number 9 is a surprise hole! The card score card does not show the hole layouts, better have a app on your phone… The 19th hole is a great sports bar and the food was very good.
Richland golf club
I loved it. I want to go play once again. Then I will put decent comments on.
Attention: Rangers needed
This was my first time ever playing this course. My foursome played on a Sunday at 11AM and got a Golfnow hot deal for $31.
Layout: I liked the layout. It was a good mix of wide fairways and placement holes. The distances on the scorecard were much different than the course actually plays - it plays way shorter than the card. There were no hole description signs and the scorecard did not have a map of the course, so a lot of shots we had to utilize GPS.
Conditions: The conditions were just OK for what has been a great wet spring for course conditions. Bunkers were in desperate need of sand. It was like hitting off of dirt and rocks. Greens were average - they were fast, but bumpy and didn't look great.
Pace: The worst part of the day was the pace of play. Our foursome never saw a ranger and the group in front of us was the slowest foursome I've ever seen. They averaged 20 minutes on par 3's and 30 minutes on par 5's. We waited on every shot, and eventually just skipped hole 15. We finished our 17 hole round in 5 hours 30 minutes. This is unacceptable and a ranger should have told them to skip a hole (or quit golfing altogether.) It was frustrating to drive an hour to play a course I've never played and have to skip a hole because the group in front of you is 4 holes behind pace.
Amenities: Beer prices were on the high side of average, but the bar was very nice. The clubhouse needs a better/bigger selection of items.
Staff Friendliness: Fine - nothing stands out
Value: The Golfnow hot deal was what made this a decent value. If I would have paid $50 like the guys behind me, I would have been unhappy.
Fun course
Course was in good condition considering we've had 21 days of rain in may. Staff was awesome as usual. This place usually gets a lot of traffic since the price is a steal for the course so it usually backs up.
Great course for the price I play there pretty frequently.
Good value; decent course
Played this past holiday weekend. Overall the course was in decent shape - probably nicer than the usual $40 course (riding). Greens had some browning but they rolled well. Staff is not super outgoing but we had a good day. The restaurant was surprisingly good.
Richland experience
We love this course and layout. Only recommendation is that the greens be fixed up. Too many areas not filled in or bare, which is unfortunate. However, for the $38.75 payed on a Holiday I'm not complaining.
Great Staff = a Great time
One of the best rounds I have had in a while. The course was in great shape and the staff were super lax and friendly. Great sunday funday.
Ps: Buddy threw up on hole 8 so watch out...
Slowly coming back !
This course, located in the heart of Middletown MD, has perhaps seen it's darkest days. The club was closed for about two years, and is now into it's second summer since re-openning, it is slowly becoming a place you want to revisit.
Holes are challenging and interesting, it is currently in great condition with lush fairways, fairly puttable greens and rough that is nasty enough to make you regret finding it.
Like most courses in the Middletown valley, it can get humid and a little stinky. Some days you wish EVERY hole had a giant fan aimed at the greens to keep it dry and mold free.
No Organization skill
They had a outing. But that wasn't the problem. They were slow because no one wasn't paired up and no golf etiquette. When your this busy it should be automatic. If the player doesn't like that they should be advised they might be held back or give them their money back. This is a great course! No sand in bunkers. And they wonder why this sports is dying! I hate doing a review. I only do it when it deserves it good or bad!
Very nice course!
Thanks for the great service in the club house and the course was in very good condition.
Great Value!
Played for $16 plus service charge and this course is easily worth $50 or more. If you get a good rate, you won't be disappointed!
