Sharpstown Park Golf Course

About
Originally known as the Sharpstown Country Club back in the 1950s and '60s, and former host of the Houston Open, the course shut down amid financial turmoil until the city of Houston scooped it up in the late 1970s and hired Jay Riviere to renovate the layout.
With its generous fairways, the course is primarily known as a hacker-friendly track. Wayward tee shots are recoverable because of the relatively sparse tree-lined fairways. Even though there are some rather long par 4s, you'll be able to fire away with your driver on the straightaway holes.
The final stretch of golf is the best, with a few short par 4s and 3s as well as a birdie-able par 5.
Note that they refer to the net along No. 6 as the Zindler Net-it's a wire contraption installed to protect the home of local newsman Marvin Zindler, who lived near the course in the 1970s and '80s. Houstonites know Zindler for his infamous association with the famed La Grange chicken ranch.
Getting there : From Hwy 59 south take the Bell Aire Blvd. exit and turn right. When you come to Harbor Town Dr., turn right and the course is just down the road on the left side.

Fun City Course with Great Greens
The Sharpstown course is one of Houston long time Municiple courses that is maintained very well and has slow but great greens. But beware, this course can get crowded.
Great value and course
The course is in great shape. Faster greens than you would expect. Greens in threat shape.
Sharpstown Golf Course
The pace of play was extremely slow. First, there was a tournament for a young group of kids. That is understanding, but there was a group of inexperienced men taking their time holding up everyone. The course was in decent condition. There were areas near the greens of soaked grass with water. Greens were FAST and extremely soft. In all course was in average playing condition.
Great course
Nice course layout there are ways are nice I only draw back it's a driving cage and not a driving range
Great Beginners Course
Course is flat and straight. Not a great challenge, but a great course to for a beginner or to work on short game. Greens are hard and fast. Pretty unforgiving but fun.
It just keeps getting better
Been playing the course over the last 2 years on and off. The most recent was the best. Perhaps helped by decent weather the greens are the best in two years. The rough can be sparse under the trees. The narrow layout has some shots from adjoining fairways where one must appreciate the golfers who are playing that hole. Little post round amenities but not needed in this COVID time. A bargain that has GPS on an phone app.
nice
nice easy layout, wide fairways. very little water.
Golf at Sharpstown
