Wildcat Golf Club - The Highlands

I have played both courses at Wildcat and they are both decent courses but not for the money charged to play.

The clubhouse and 19th hole are nice but the courses need a lot of work to be worth the $100+ price per round.

The Highlands could be extremely fun but when I played on the 24th of July, every hole looked like it need work from surrounding brush, cart paths, greens etc.

Also, it isn’t really fair to charge full freight when the greens are being aerated.

I would play Wildcat again to see if things change but I will wait a couple of months to see what improvements they make.

Highlands was a beautiful course. Tough as nails and and couldn't always know where you were hitting to.

Played Highlands twice now. Biggest strength is the layout. A few holes are bland and greens are uninspiring, but most holes have interesting features. Very rare to find such hills and differences in terrain in Houston. Course was in very good shape, minus a few small blemishes. Pace of play was bad on the back 9, with nobody apparently moving people along. Played on a $60 hot deal, which is a great value. Anything over $80 would start to feel overpriced.

It took more than 5 hours to complete 18 holes. The group two groups ahead of us had no consideration for the others behind us, so we had to wait a few minutes for each hole. There were no marshals, and many groups behind us were constantly waiting. If you can't enjoy it at this price, it's not worth it.

The course was in typical winter condition which is fine for the most part but the greens were terrible for the price. Some worse than others but all suffered from large areas of poa annua spots as well as fungus or mold that made putting a crap shoot. Not the end of the world but definitely not worth the $100 + green fees.

Best part about this course was the greens. They were superb. Little more wet and soft than I would have liked on course. But the biggest issue I had was the blind tee shots and the weeds/fescue. If your ball barely rolled in, kiss it good bye. So accuracy pays off on this course. Can’t get to the weeds at all. Leave it short and in play. Solid $65 course.

Third time playing The Highlands course at Wildcat. Links course with large, challenging greens with lots of twists and turns. The native grasses looked to have just been cut which made it easier to find balls hit into the grasses. Course was dry due to lack of rain so the roll was in our favor. I look forward to playing The Highlands again.

Helpful staff and great course. Challenging for the price.

I honestly was looking for a reason to give something 4 stars but it was all great. 10/10 experience on all fronts.

This is probably the best course in Houston. I love playing both highlands and the lakes course.
