This course is very nice and the price is good too!
it was a great day the course is fixed up quite nicely now. Some holes are easy but challenging and others are quite challenging but what I like. Good mixtures of short, medium and long holes. would defiantly go back.
Interesting challenge
Not long but lot's of water and hazards sprinkled all over the course. Requires good aim and straight shots.
Early in the season so hard to judge the greens in mid summer form.
Only negative. Bunkers need lots of work.
A Hidden Gem
This course is definitely a must play! It is well maintained and a challenge to play. The marshall was very friendly and took time to explain the course. Very picturesque with wild life. Back 9 little less forgiving... Bring lots of balls as there are many water hazards and out of bounds rough. Can't wait to get back to play!
First time at Whitetail
What a great golf course! Bunkers need a bit of work, but overall an excellent day. Lots of little ponds and creeks throughout. Excellent layout, great walking course. No winter kill, lush greens. 40 minutes north of Oshawa. Well worth the drive!
IT'S GETTING BETTER
The North new 9 continues to grow in and they are making some smart moves on the south to improve playability. The North still feels a bit tight on a few holes and would I think benefit from some more fairway bunkering to snag errant shots.
Great Fall Golf
This is very good value. The greens are fast with just enough contour.Lots of water presenting a challenge for sure. The traps need work.
A little Gem
I heard about this course and read the reviews. It's a little out of the way but well worth the drive from Oshawa, about an hour. Loved it! Immaculate condition. Beautiful receptive greens. Tight fairways. Lots of water. Hot deal made it even better!! It's like they're given it away....LOL
Hidden gem
Very nice and challenging course. Water hazards on every hole. Well maintained and beautiful. I'm definitely coming back again. Nice mix of long and short holes. Can't say anything bad about this course.
I will be coming back
This is a gem of a course hidden out of sight. Course very well maintained and a good mix of features and length for the holes. Water hazards on every hole keeping it interesting. I would come back again for sure.
A well maintained challenge
Course very well maintained, fairways and greens.
Lots of challenges with bunkers, water hazards, and some narrows. Worth playing several times
Yardage is longer than it seemed. Fun round.
At first glance there is not much to get excited about on the drive in. Small country golf course with basic facilities. I didn't think I would enjoy my round but I was pleasantly surprised by the golf course.
Fairways and greens were great. The course appeared short but yardage tells the story. 5571 from white or 6572 gold. So there is lots of distance.
Water makes it a challenge but not so it is frustrating. Easily playable with thought before hitting. I had fun.
Sometimes I wonder if should review where I play? Just means more people will be competing for my tee time :)
Good day
South challenging and in excellent shape. North not as mature. Lots of opportunity to lose balls.
Whitetail
Good day...Interesting course...Above average country course...
Surprise, surprise, surprise
My friend lives in peterboro and we tried this course as it is in between for myself and him to meet. Pleasant surprise, THis course greens were some of the best I have seen this year, it is a shorter course with a lot of twists and turns, you have to hit it straight, the front nine is in better shape than back nine but we had a great day here, started at 1pm and finished a little after 4. some of the fairways are a bit rough but I don't care about that, makes me be more creative. thanks, thought is was great!! will be back! greens are very true! no sand at all hardly as the sand traps were all under repair? not sure but I think so?
Whitetail only lacks a deer sighting!!
A delightful course; good length and lots of shot-making required. Water in play on many holes so bring a couple of extra sleeves. The course is in excellent condition; greens run true but don't take as much break as your eye thinks you need. Take a cart first time but this is a course that should be walked to fully enjoy your round.
challenging course
An enjoyable course but the back nine is much better groomed than the front nine.
bang for your buck
great price for a round of golf with cart
cant complain when you play golf for under 20 dollars
Great course and wonderful staff
A good place to play a round. Course is well kept and staff are great.
Hidden Gem?
As an ex-golf professional and having played a lot of different courses, I was pleasantly surprised by Whitetail. Expecting a typical "cow pasture", the course was instead reasonably well groomed, and the greens were smooth and putted very well. From the very back tees, the course is reasonably challenging, requiring thoughtful placement off the tee on several holes.
My only criticisms are:
1) the overall plot of land is devoid of any elevation changes, reminiscent of some Florida courses, and therefore reducing the challenge and scenic value:
2)the bunker sand is defective...more clay than sand. (though it was apparent on our visit that several bunkers were being repaired, having been completely scooped out...perhaps in preparation for some proper bunker sand?)
Pricing and quality of food (and beer) was quite good.
All in all a good visit, and I would definitely go back.
Great morning round
Great course in good condition. Lots of water to avoid ... donated a few too many balls but had a good time and finished 18 in just over 3 hours.
