Just another golf course
Too short and not well maintained. Nothing special about course.
Great mountains and aspen colors this fall.
Beautiful fall day in Colorado and for a mountain course it was in decent shape. At 9,888 in elevation I think they have done their best to maintain in those conditions. I enjoy the layout and would keep coming back.
Worth the price
For the amount you pay this course is great! Overall decent shape, a fun place to spend the afternoon in the beautiful mountains.
Great Value
Played a couple of days after some major rains. It was cart path only (in the late afternoon), and the fairways were not even wet. So, that was a little disappointing. However, it was a great value for what I paid, and we played quickly on a Thursday.
GREAT TIME
READING PREVIOUS REVIEWS THE GREENS WERE IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE. MAYBE 3 GREENS WERE IN DISREPAIR. ENJOYED TEEING OFF AT THE HIGHEST T-BOX IN NORTH AMERICA. 9674 FEET.
PUTTING GREEN NOT IN GOOD SHAPE. LOTS OF H20 ON THE FRONT 9. OVERALL HAD A GREAT TIME.
high altitude
Golfnow.com worked seamless. It also saves on the cart which is extra. I'll play twice for less than one course price.
Poor greens
Short but fun and challenging course. However greens were in very poor shape. Normal rates are too high for this course but I booked online for 20 dollars which was a great bargain.
terrific layout
I would think it very challenging to get this course in impeccable conditions. Their season is short and they get tons of snow. I had a most enjoyable day on the links and will play it again.
Challenging Course in excellent condition
Even though the overall yardage is relatively short, the course is very challenging. We moved up from the back tees after two holes and still had a tough time with several holes.
We got an excellent greens fee rate using GolfNow and, for a mountain course, got a great rate.
Friendly staff
We play at Copper at least one time a year when we're in the high country - it hasn't changed much. The overall course conditions can only be described as "Fair" - greens are not in good shape - most of the fairways are fine. We've always been told that the conditions are due to the altitude and ski season but the other area courses don't seem to have the same problem. Granted, some of the greens at Copper are "skied over" during ski season but it just seems like by August they would be in better shape. I don't think that Copper spends as much on maintenance as other courses in the area - however, that's reflected in the typically lower price you see here. Also, don't let the short yardage fool you - it has some very tricky T shots for a short course - often over a lot of "grunge".
Great day out
First hole was a little beat up, but the rest of the course was in great condition. First time around had a great time shot pretty well. Will return.
Nice Deal
Nice mountain course in decent shape. The bag drop off/parking is a bit inconvenient but still doable. Would definitely play again.
A fun mountain course.
The course is challenging, but still fun for those of us who aren't expert golfers. The greens were a bit "beat up" but that isn't uncommon on mountain courses where there is snow 9 months out of the year. The weather held on for us and we all had a great time!
great scenery
nice course for the money. plenty of trouble, lot of water on the front, great views, a couple of the greens need some help but over all a good experience.
So much potential
I rated this course at 3 stars simply because of the views, the back 9 and having the highest tee box in North America. The front 9 conditions were not what I was hoping for but were exactly what every review I read had stated. I get with the winter they had up there it can make conditions difficult to be "pristine", but with the breathtaking views, and fun, although short(and I played it from the tips)but some what challengeing course, it could be a golfers paradise. Biggest disappointment for me was the shape the greens were in. Just awful. They had patches and holes/divits and the ones that didn't, were a bumpy road to the hole. Hole 10(par 3) had a front bunker full of water with the sump pump layed in the trap and across the hole. Lots of opportunities for birdies, which is always exciting. I would recommend this course to someone, just not at this time with the conditions the way they are. For 40 bucks on golfnow, the scenery was worth it to me. Front 9 played easier for me. Shot a 36. Back 9 wasn't much more difficult, but the round went down the tubes. Shot a 43 and came it at 79. Long story short, if scenery is worth it to you, then play it. If course conditions are the main concerns then don't play it right now.
Better Mountain Courses exist around Vail
No range, no practice green to speak of and greens that consisted of moss mixed in with a few blades of grass.
Using the Dye name to market this course is a sad reflection of management at Copper Mountain.
Great potential but in need of repair and obvious capital investment.
my review first play this year
slowly recovering from late winter but very playable
Great views
Nice to be high in the Rockies. But the short growing season makes the greens a little shaggy
Bunker full of stagnant water
Greens hard and rough; swampy areas on fairways and roughs; one bunker full of stagnant water. Stunning views on every hole; fun to have our picture standing on the highest elevation tee in N.America.
