Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Challenging course - greens need attention
It presents some interesting challenges: the greens are fast but a little too hard at times. They do not receive well so backspin is a myth playing this course - I dont think I had to repair a pitch mark throughout the bak to back rounds that I played. There are 2 or 3 sand patches on some greens. Greens run fast but true. Grain direction has not a considerable impact while putting. The rough is high and challenging and the contour of the fairways is nice. Fairways are soft but mind you, on this course, hitting the fairway doesnt necessarily mean you are in good position to attack the green. Some lays are tough and uneven from the fairway. It an entertaining course and perhaps a little more attention to the ignature hole is needed.
The greens were in excellent shape, true roll on the ball.
The pace of play was good, overall the course was in very good shape.
One of the better courses in Houston
Played Thanksgiving morning with my father. We usually play this course when I am back in Houston.
On this morning the fog was thick, although it burned off by the third hole, the first two holes were difficult to follow the ball.
Make no mistake, this is a pretty challenging course. Long par fives on 3 and 5, with some long par 4's thrown in for good measure. Water is in play on 5 or 6 holes. Be ware of hole two, the fairway slopes left to right toward water. The back nine is more challenging than the front.
Lastly, after all of that, the greens. Oh man, the greens. You gotta watch out for the grain, which will change on you through the course of the round as the sun moves. All in all, very good course definitely in the top 20 I have played.
challenging course with numerous sand traps
Played with two other friends. Pace of play was awesome. No waiting. Course is in great condition and even the sand was fluffy.
Pace of play is very slow
Too many golfers, they are working hard on packing the course, also a fee whether you want to pay it or not $6.00 per player for cart GPS
course is in the best shape in years
the course is in great shape. the play was a little slower than normal, however, there was a tournement a head of us.
Fairway and greens are in perfect condition
Friendly staff, nice golf range, clean restrooms, course in great condition.
Beautiful Course
This is a beautiful course located in Cinco Ranch near Katy Texas. From the tips, it's quite challenging and it is also a very well maintained golf course.
Great course
Greens are in great shape. Plenty of challenges around the entire course. Not too long, not too short and 3 different tees to choose from. The super friendly staff have made this a more frequent stop in my rotation for sure. See for yourself.
Cart Path Only?
Let me begin by saying that this is one of the better public courses in the Houston area. Plenty of value for the money. My only issue was that it had rained all weekend. Understandably, we were playing under cart path only rules. But, why did we have to pay an extra $5.00 for a useless GPS system attached to a cart that was on a cartpath 50 yards away from me. I found myself using my phone exclusively for yardage for the entire 18 holes.
Very poor course management.
Obviously reserve best service for the Country Club course as the public course was not marshalled and took FOREVER to play. Yardage very poorly marked, service was terrible.
Nice course with fair price
I enjoyed playing there every time I went. It one of my favorite course in the Houston area. The staff always maintained a very good condition.
If it weren't for GolfNow, I wouldn't play it.
The staff is not very friendly... They don't seem to enjoy their jobs or even want to be there. For the regular prices of this course, I was expecting much much more. The tee boxes were in decent shape, the fairways were pretty good, but the greens were sooooo slow. There were a couple fivesomes on the course holding everyone up. I did see a Marshall periodically, but he certainly was not managing the pace of play. Like I said, if it weren't for GolfNow, I don't believe I would ever play this course.
Cinco Ranch has come back great. Greens are in excelent conditions. Fairway are plush & rough is thick!

Favorite course
Always in great shape. And I love the gps on the carts.
Great course, friendly staffs
I played on weekday so the pace of play is good, 4 hrs for a 4 player group. A little busier on weekend. The fairways and green are well taken care, the pin locations are quite aggressive! :)
Overall:
Good course, friendly staffs. Worth the money.
Would recommend friends playing here.
