About
Amongst the chemical plants, refinery towers, and wood-lined waterways of La Porte lies the 18-hole Jay Riviere municipal known as Bay Forest. Riviere's design opened in 1988, featuring a tight front nine that opens up on the lake-dominated back side. Water is in play on 16 of 18 holes. Because of La Porte's proximity to the Gulf, the coastal winds make this a long course.
Despite its tight nature, the front nine offers a few nice birdie opportunities, including the short par 3 No. 6. This hole generally only requires a 9 iron to carry the bunker fronting the green.
On the back, the par 5 No. 10 is one of the most birdie-friendly holes on the course. It's followed by the signature No. 11-a great-looking dogleg right that bends around a pond to a well-bunkered green. The play with the approach on 11 is to leave it below the hole.
The par 5 No. 18 is a challenging finisher that requires good golf shots into the wind and the accuracy to avoid the water that sneaks into the fairway in the landing area from the right. The second shot must carry water and a bunker, and the recommended play on the approach is to keep it on the right side of the green.
Getting there : From Hwy. 45 south, take the 610 Loop north. When you come to Hwy. 225 head east and take the Pasadena exit. Turn right, find Hwy. 146 and go south (right). Next, get off at the Fairmont Pkwy. exit and turn left. When you get to South Broadway St., turn right and drive 1 mile to the course. The clubhouse is on the right side of the street.

Hidden Gem
A little drive but worth it. Best winter greens anywhere. This is not Augusta but for La Porte and the Price it’s a pretty good deal.

Very playable for all levels
The number of members makes it tough to get a good selection of tee times for non members

Condition this course Probably has some of the best greens in town had not play this course in awhile and was very impressed with the greens I move around to different courses a lot and this one top the list for there greens

Every thing about BF Is top rate.
My complete disappointment is the way Golf now deceptively lures you into taking their hot deal t time. Once you complete your selection, pay through your credit card, and they accept your payment, your receipt registers internet usage fees per player (4), and in one instance, an unknown charity donation! So, the result is there’s no actual savings in buying the “hot deal” offer. This negative review is solely placed on Golfnow. BF is very accommodating to any player. Issues. Thanks

Course ok, greens over seeded
The fairways were good. Tee boxes were mostly good, tore up pretty good on some holes. But the greens were overly inconsistent. Over-seeded on likely 60-70% of the greens. Putts weren’t running true due to the furry greens. They need to be cut

Hidden Gem
Hard to beat these greens on any course much less a municipal. Great course great shape. My only complaint is there were 2 5somes I saw on a beautiful Friday Afternoon. I think that caused a backup and we didn’t get to play 18.
But overall all is great.
