Point Venture Golf Club
About
Built along Lake Travis in 1971, Point Venture was the first course in Leander, but has been overshadowed since the opening of Crystal Falls. The course has 9 holes that meander through a residential development and is loaded with dogleg holes and mature trees.
Jimmy Demaret designed the course, and his layout features two nasty par 5s. The best hole on the course is No. 7–a scenic hole that starts from an elevated tee box and plays downhill to a green surrounded by a lake.
Getting there : From I-35, exit FM 1431 and drive west approximately 25 miles to Lago Vista. Turn left on Lohman Ford Rd. and drive 8 miles to the Point Venture guard gate.

Swamp
This fun golf course is being overwatered. Some areas are just mushy.
Course is in great shape.
This is a fun and challenging 9 hole course. No water, no sand, and no pushover. This course demands ball control and course management.
Allowed a 5some to play and not tee off on time because they were locals. This caused a huge backup
Me and my daughter went to play on a Sunday. They let a fivesome group play which backed everyone up and caused me to tee off 30 minutes late. The fivesome group never offered to allow me and my daughter to play through until the Marshall came by but then only offered to allow us to play through on the next part three. Me and my daughter just skip that whole to bypass them. Further on the course It was backed up again. At this point, the clubhouse allowing a fivesome to play because they were locals irritated me, so me and my daughter just left. I will likely not play this course again.
Entitlement
I’ve golfed out there several times even during a tournament and let everyone play through while my grandson was learning the game and he’s had lessons w Justin. Now Sunday my son in law Chris, my grandson Ash, and I where set up to play, last minute change to add Another player a friend of family whom wants to move here, he asked if his young sons whom never played could tag along. Then on a quiet Sunday morning the entitled people struck. Kept complaining we had six golfers, Well PVGC employees were very very understanding that these younglings were out there, having fun learning the game. Well to help PVGC employees we started skipping holes, finished nine, halftime, mommas and grand momma, picked all the boys up, including Ashton whom was a payed player for another nine, however he so grown up and mature now he understood what was happening and went on with the mommas and younglings to explore the rest of point ventures amenities. We went out and finished Another nine.
Never been so pressured by entitled golfers before, thought golf was a relaxing game, especially when you have younglings who are interested in the game. Anyway we’ll definitely be back and kudos to all the PVGC employees that were understanding and really kept this old golfer from breaking entitled heads with his golf clubs :)
Great course
All in all this is a nice course. Currently the greens need some TLC due to perhaps a fungus. But the fairways are in good shape and the perfect place to teach my grandson to play
first 9 very slow
you play the 9 holes two times so if your tee time is around mid morning or early afternoon you have to share the furat holes with the turning groups
Good fun course for beginners
Not a bad course at all, greens could be better but I’m not good enough at golf to complain about the condition of the course.
Perfect course for kids
Friendly staff and no waiting even on a Saturday. Tee boxes and fairways in good shape but greens really patchy. With no forced carries and no bunkers, it’s a great course to bring kids out to learn to play.
