Lago Vista Golf Course

First time playing here. Staff was great. Course layout was great. Views of the Colorado river were good. Deer everywhere! Challenging course on some holes. The fairways were in pretty good shape. The tee boxes and greens, not so much. They need some.love and work! Overall I would play this course again.

Previously, the lawn management was not well-maintained, but it has improved a lot. Highly recommended.

I made a reservation for 30 percent cheaper than a month ago. Overall, fairway conditions are much better than a month ago. I could still see areas without grass, but maybe because of some rain, there was a lot more grass. However, green conditions are still the worst until the 9th hole in the first half. Especially, the 7th hole had about five sand bunkers inside, so I was hit by a ridiculous situation where I had to take bunker shots from inside the green. However, the second half hole was generally good. The green is understandable for the price. But one thing I want you to do is manage the green.

Playing at Lago Vista Golf Club is very relaxing with the wild life and the views of water and the land. A good course cost and beautiful landscape.

First, the staff were super friendly and very accommodating.

The course itself was fun and challenging with some great views of the Lake Travis area. There were some interesting holes with blind greens, great elevation changes, and some nice wide fairways.

The only cons I encountered were some rough greens and fairways. BUT, the course is coming out of the winter season, and this entire region of Texas hasn’t been getting much rain. So grace should be given.

If spring brings some rain, this place will hit full stride. I regularly play courses almost twice the price that aren’t as nice, so this one is great value in my book. (The Hot Deal price was $40 for 18)

If you’re looking for a super pampered county club experience, this ain’t it. If you’re looking for fun laidback public course with some very unique holes, and that Central Texas charm, look no further.

I will definitely add this to my list of courses to play again when I’m back in the Austin area.

Fair value for the money. Paid ~$54 for prime Saturday 730am tee time & made the reservation only 2 days in advance. First time I have played the course. This public course has not been appropriately maintained. I was told the city has now allocated funds to improve the course maintenance & it has improved significantly over past 2 years. Overall the course layout is good. Greens were in fair shape. Still need improvement as they are bumpy and have mixed grass (grass & weeds). Fairways lack lush grass and need water and care. This course has a ways to go before being equal to the Austin public courses in terms of conditions. I hope the improvement continues. With good care it has potential to be a nice public course.

Lago offers a great value at the course, has friendly staff and will enforce pace of play.

I had already looked at the ratings and expected it, but I booked it consoling myself that it would be better than the Black Hawk I visited in last week. I liked the 50 free range practice balls. When I started the course, I was satisfied with the group of deer, the beautiful scenery, and the design of the course, which was not easy but interesting. However, the more the game continued, the more dirt the fairway was than the grass, and the greens were dented and terrible everywhere. It is not worth as much as $45. If you pay a little attention to the course management, you will not have any complaints even if the fee goes up. I don't understand why they are killing this beautiful golf course.

It’s been about a year since I played here, only went because someone told me it had improved. I guess improved is in the eye of the beholder. Yes, greens were better, but still not good. However, the fairways (if you could call them that) were none existent. It was nothing but packed dirt. T boxes were horrible as well. The course has a good layout and a lot of potential, but until they clean it up, it’s not worth playing.

Course needs rain badly... Little to no grass anywhere in the fairways. I hit the fairways numerous times in play but the ball would not stay in play.

Greens are not bad.

LVGC continues to do its best to improve the course. The greens are in much better condition than a few years back, but the recent flash drought has wreaked havoc on the fairways and tee boxes. Ironically it was not difficult to hit off them, just a bit dusty and requiring planning for ball movement post landing. I had one awesome 3 wood into the last par 5 green that literally rolled from the far left side of the fairway all the way across and OOB!

Hopefully with the planned new irrigation and rain, things can continue to improve.

Lago Vista has been ABSOLUTLY PATHETIC ever since the city took over the course ! They DO NOT know what water is, the tee boxes, and fairways are nothing but rocks & sand ! Greens have been terrible for 10+ years.

How they could even charge people to play this course, is a Crime in itself ! I told myself 3 years ago, that I would NEVER return, well shame on me for giving them one more chance, guess what, it was far worse than 3 years ago !!!

Worst conditioned golf course you could EVER play !!

Shame on you Lago Vista, for not taking care of one of the best layouts around, it’s a shame you can’t play golf on it !!!! NEVER AGAIN

The greens are mostly playable, but the fairways are mostly dirt, it's a challenge to find grass to roll your golf ball on. It was also a stain to get a T in the ground at several T boxes.

My teenage sons and I are all beginner golfers and played our first round here on a Sunday afternoon. Staff was super nice, carts in great shape, and excellent value. Loved option to play just 9 holes. Course is very beginner friendly with some easy par 3s. Fairways were pretty dead/burnt from hot Texas summer and cart paths in need of repair. Lots of dirt patches and unfixed holes even on greens. We would play again but probably in spring when conditions might be better.
