About
Built along Lake Travis in 1971, Point Venture was the first course in Leander, but has been overshadowed since the opening of Crystal Falls. The course has 9 holes that meander through a residential development and is loaded with dogleg holes and mature trees.
Jimmy Demaret designed the course, and his layout features two nasty par 5s. The best hole on the course is No. 7–a scenic hole that starts from an elevated tee box and plays downhill to a green surrounded by a lake.
Getting there : From I-35, exit FM 1431 and drive west approximately 25 miles to Lago Vista. Turn left on Lohman Ford Rd. and drive 8 miles to the Point Venture guard gate.

This course was okay for the price
Greens and fairways need to be grown out some more. A couple of the greens need replaced . Wildlife was abundant around the course,
Best value in Austin
This course is a gem considering the price. Only nine holes but I still try to play 27 every time I’m here. Greens are in great condition and are FAST. The staff is always super friendly. Bonus points for the no frills 19th hole

My experience
It was a great day to play golf and I loved seeing all the deer on the course , I invited two other buddies to play with me and they had to pay twice as much because they didn’t do it online . And I was ok with that UNTIL we found out AFTER getting there that there was a tournament and we had to follow the last people in the tournament playing two balls a piece . It took us 5 hours to play 18 holes. Other then that it was awesome. I would very much like to play again but this time a heads up if anything surprising. Very friendly Janice in the pro shop Thank you guys so much!
Point Venture comes through as usual
I hadn’t been out to play here in a couple years, but I knew from experience what to expect from this gem of a facility. The greens are what separate Point Venture from other affordable, open to the public venues in and around Austin. Despite it ‘only’ being a 9 hole course (personally I’d rather have 9 thoughtfully, well laid out holes to play than 18 indifferent ones), and an hours drive from my house, I still love making the beautiful drive out to Point Venture, knowing that I’m about to enjoy as an ‘away from it all’ peaceful and leisurely round of golf one can hope to find in the greater Austin area.
And the greens are ALWAYS challenging and fair, and occasional LIGHTNING FAST

Enjoyable round of golf
We hadn’t played Point Venture in a couple of years, and was very pleased to see all the updates with the clubhouse. Staff and members we talked to were all very friendly!

Point Venture
Great course for the money. Greens were fast and pace of play was awesome. 18 holes in 4 hours. Yeah !!!
