Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

10th fairway. Par 5. Nice hole. Photo submitted by Sam Sherstad on 06/07/2016
Slower than molasses
Slow pace of play pushed the round to 6 hours. Tee times overbooked. No marshall managing play. Bathroom was disgusting; mold around the sink.
Windy city
It was very windy out but the pace of play for a weekend was outstanding.
Greens were in terrible condition. Fairways were very firm and the rollout was very long. Front nine layout causes backups and gets better on the back. Booking with deals or discounts is recommended, do not pay full price.
3 hour back nine twice in two weeks.
Need to have a martial to get things moving in the back nine.
Silly slow pace of play.
Winter conditions are starting to take their toll on the grass
The winter was cold and it’s starting to show on the course. It looks like it’s going to take some time for them to get the grass back, in my honest opinion the greens are already dead. The roots are hardly there if at all and the rest of the course is hanging on by threads it felt like. I still love the layout and pace of play when I find my way out here, I just wish they were prepping more for the warmer weather ahead.
Great sand traps
Fun course great sand traps friendly club house personal great pace of play
It is very good shape for February. The greens are crazy fast.
Great Location and Reasonable Price
Nice course, pace of play was great and staff was very friendly. This was my second time playing the course but will definitely play it again.
Great track for super cheap
I love the layout of holes here and the pace of play is awesome. I play quick, I booked a tee time for 4:21 @ around 1:30 pm and got there a bit early. Pro shop guy let me off as soon as I got ready (~4:05), I finished the front nine in an hour and 20 minutes while playing two balls. I finished the back nine in 40 minutes playing a single ball, hustling, and joining up with a guy I caught up to on 17. Finished at 6:10 - 6:15 ish and was in my car on the way home at 6:30.
Pace too slow
No marshal on duty. The pace is too slow and it took close to 6 hours. I feel I was just hanging outside rather than playing golf as I had to wait 5~10 min to play next hole. This also creates a problem with parking lots.
Moore Bros
Great track, just slow play as it was stacked tee times!
