Mesquite Golf Course
About
Mesquite’s muni, located in the Duck Creek floodplain, was built in the 1960s by Leon Howard. Playing only 6,280 yards from the tips and void of bunkers, it makes for a fun day on the links. In fact, water comes into play only seven times–not as much as you might think for a floodplain course that has been ravaged by floods over the years.
The most challenging hole, No. 13, has water. It’s a 418-yard par 4 that doglegs right and features a tee shot over a creek, followed by a long approach to a tough, narrow green.
Other notes: Garrett Gill and George B. Williams redesigned this course.
Getting there : From I-30 east, take Northwest Hwy. for .5 mile to North Hwy. 67 and the course.

good East Dallas Golf
Course is alays crowded so expect 4:30h time of play. Challenging course with sand traps, water and dog legs. Overall greens and Fairways are in good shape.
Great value for the money.
Friendly staff. Greens are in excellent shape. Great value for the money.
Good Value
The course is in great shape.
Fairways and greens perfect condition
A little bit to slow around 4:45, for a municipal course it is probably the norm....
Mesquite GC
Good value for the $$....Played in 3 1/2 hours...was allowed by fellow golfers...one three-some and a five-some to play through...Course was in good shape after a lot of rain...cart path only on this day but that was ok...needed the exercise.
mesquite golf course
the re-opening and changes at the course are great. was asked to skip a hole as they put a twosome behind us and they were complaining. we skipped the hole and then ended up waiting on the group in front of us. We were put with 2 other people so i don't think they should have put 2 with the group behind us. bad planning.
GREENS ARE MUCH FASTER! GREATLY ENJOYABLE!
The greens are much faster than they were before. Pretty open with nice bunkers and limited water. Contours of green were laid out well with a above average hole selection. Overall, I really enjoyed this course. I will be returning today!
New Mesquite
First time playing here since redesign. More distance added is a plus. Fairways and greens in great condition.
Fun Course
Fun course with just enough challenge for the 10 handicapper and above. Rough is deadly. I like all the areas that have been turned into grass lands that used to just be ugly. Stay on the right side of the fairway for your second on the par 5 seventh.
Firm, fast greens
First time playing this course in years since the recent renovations. Nice improvement with undulating greens and the added bunkers. Still, an average muni course. Good value if you can find a deal.
Greens were in good shape for this time of year (late January).
Over the past several years, the city of Mesquite has directed a lot of resources to improvement of this golf course. The course remains in decent shape for the amount of drought we have experienced throughout the past year. Traffic at the course has picked up as a direct result of the improvements. With the increased traffic and continued lack of adequate rainfall, the course is reaching a stress point. Two things that need attention on the course are fairway and tee box fatigue. The course is beginning to show some wear on a few fairways from cart traffic and several of the tee boxes were well worn and deep in sand. Without adequate moisture this Spring, the course will only face further stress heading into the summer season challenging the staff to be able to maintain the integrity of the course. The course staff have done a nice job of maintaining the greens on the course. The course is well marshalled and effort is made to keep the players on pace for the 4 hours 15 minutes per 18 holes. Staff are cordial during the check-in process and helpful in getting each group off the first tee box on their scheduled time or before. The course offers a moderate challenge to experienced golfers and is not overwhelming to those less skilled at the game. I would recommend this course to anyone seeking an enjoyable day on the course.
This course is fun
This is a fun course it has no bunkers to hit into so it helps the weekend golfer it's got it's hard holes and easy ones for long hitters
PRETTY GOOD FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR
GREENS WERE HAIRRY BECAUSE OF WEATHER COULDN,T CUT. FAIRWAYS SURPRISINGLY GOOD. LAID BACK COURSE. HAD A BLAST 84 W/ 2 BIRDIES
Fun Course Great Price
Fun course at a great price. Would highly recommend any type player to give it at least one round. Not a complaint but front desk and starters very strict...
The Tee area needs conditioning
Anytime I break 90 I feel something is right about the course. My friend and I had a great time. But, I would like to see something done with the Tees. One could easily determine that the Tees havn't been maintain as they should. Too many divets and over sanded to compensate. Ground keepers should move the markers more often?
Fairways are dry, tee boxes hard and greens are fast. Typical for this time of the year.
For autumn, the conditions of the course were dry, hard and fast. Not too untypical for this time of the year for most municipal courses. I understand that Mesquite is going to renovate the course beginning in March of 2013. Nice challenge with creeks and water hazards, however do not have to worry about sand. Particularly like the driving range.
This course was in great condition. An excellent driving range.
Great course, only wish it was a little closer to where I live.
Muni - Get what you pay for!
This is a fairly easy Muni, that can be played for a discount if you watch Golf Now.... I would not pay full price unless you just can't get another tee time. Weather was too good not to play yesterday.
this is the best course anywhere in Dallas,Tx for the price.
I will be back, and play there more, this is the best course anywhere in Dallas,Tx.
I've played this course when it was in much better condition.
Considering the time of year the course was not in that bad of shape. The T boxes were pretty rough though. Considering a remodel is scheduled for early next year perhaps they have started cutting back on maintenance. Still one of my favorite places to play.
I did hole out from about sixty yards on one of the holes so that made my day!
Course is scheduled for major redo early 2013
I would wait to play again after that and give it another chance
