Could be a hidden gem?
I wanted a course to play 9 holes after work and I found Duck Creek Golf Club, an older golf course community in Garland. It was 15 minutes from work and the price was really reasonable. After seeing the mobile home club house, I wasn't sure how this course would look, but the layout is challenging and long and interesting. WIDE fairways and fast. Plenty of roll out from my low ball flight. Fairways need watering, but the greens were lush. The biggest fault I found was the amount of driving amongst the neighborhoods to get to the holes, especially from 9 to 10. I said I wanted to play 9, but Duck Creek has 18. I ended up playing 11 as I needed to get home. Ended on a birdie. Nice!
Pace of play
Pace of play was way too slow. I caught a group of people who started at 2:40ish and I started at 3:08. We all got off the course at 6:10. I get needing to make money but way to many people on the course at one time. Green and fair way can not tell a difference between the two. Some greens had clovers growing on them. Course is making money but not putting it back into fixing the course.
Bad gotten worse
Its never been a great course but this place when from a fair backup plan if everything is booked up to now it’s just awful the greens are basically painted on pace of play is atrocious if you find yourself here welcome to the worst course in DFW
Ok for the price
The course is in bad shape might be due to lack of water I will play again after rains. The greens are not bad. It’s a fun course to play I think some rain might do this course some good
DO NOT PLAY DUCK CREEK
DUCK CREEK IS A DUMP. NOT WORTHY OF ANY GOLFER OTHER THAN BEGINNERS AND KIDS. POORLY MAINTAINED GREENS, TEE BOXES, AND FAIRWAYS. A MOBILE TRAILER IS THE CLUBHOUSE. CART PATHS HAVE GIANT CRACKS, BRIDGES ARE UNSAFE, AND RESTROOM FACILITIES ARE TERRIBLE, EVEN THE PORTAPOTTIES.
THE OWNERS JUST NEED TO SHUT IT DOWN AND SELL THE LAND TO A HOMEBUILDER. THE OWNER CERTAINLY DOES NOT MAINTAIN ANYTHING.
Free for all start.
Unfortunately the pace of play made things really bad. Maybe get a starter out there on number one and team everyone up in foursomes. Otherwise staff was great.
Avoid
This might be the worst and overpriced course in the entire United States. When you pull up, you have to go to a trailer. you’re hitting on nothing but concrete all day, and the pace of place is so slow
Lack of maintenance
Greens were long, Tee boxes were cut, had to wait 25 mins after tee time for a cart. This should be a $20 course and not $45
Under appreciated
Golf snobs won’t like this course because there are broken tees on the tee boxes, the club house is a trailer, and there is no cart girl.
For the other 90% of us, this is a great value! White tees almost 6100 yards. Several “thinking” holes to challenge your shot making and just enough holes to allow you to swing away!
I hope people continue to underrate this place, makes my round that much more pleasant!
Not worth what they are charging
No range, practically no practice area at all besides a hole in the ground. Almost a 6 hour round waiting for two groups almost every hole. Greens are kind of all over the place with speed and consistency and grass lol. Ponds and environmental areas are just uncared-for swamps. Fairways aren’t terrible. There are some cool hole layouts, but just seems like they are just milking the money out of this course till it dies.
From Bad to Worse
This course has been in bad condition for years. Today I took my 9 year old out because it is close to the house but they charged FULL PRICE for a 9 year old. I paid half as much for him to play a resort course in HAWAII than I had to pay for him to play one of the worst courses in DFW. STRIKE ONE!
We showed up early so we could warm up. Standard, you would think, right? Not so much. Range is closed. Did I miss some huge rain storm? NOPE! Range ball picker is broken and apparently they couldn't afford to get it fixed, despite charging juniors full price. Oh! BTW, you also can't have a cart until 20 minutes before your tee time because they don't have enough functioning carts... By 10am... STRIKE TWO!
Then we have the pace of play... The marshall passed a group 3 in front of us, without stopping, but got on us to pick up our pace so we could finish out our hole (8) to hurry and get to #9, which already had 3 groups on it and that happens to be a par 4 that plays right around 300 yards. Where the F did you want us to go dude?!
The guys behind us almost hit us 4 times because they had so little etiquette. They literally hit the ball to within 3 yards of our cart that many times. Marshall said absolutely nothing about that though.
To be honest, I would normally have my son pick his ball up and play at my ball, but I figured if I payed full price for him to play, he is going to take all the shots he needs to take. That being said, we still never got behind the groups in front of us and we finished in 5 hours and 4 minutes after we had to start at 10:54 for our 10:46 tee time.
I will never play this course again unless I REALLY need to get out and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING anywhere else. Apparently many people feel this way because there are always tee times available, even on weekends. Go elsewhere unless you are DESPERATE.
My favorite Golf Course
I have invited my friends to play at Duck Creek Golf and all my friends fell in love with the course!!!!
Great Value Great Surface
Love coming here. If you love the game but don’t want to be a priced out of the venue and avoid being an “exclusive member”. This is the place. Just real people. Love what they have done to the greens. Surfaces are completely different from just a few moths ago.
