Bridges - The Tradition at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
The Bridges at Firewheel Golf Park is a 27-hole layout that has been a regular host of U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifying tournaments. The course is comprised of three nines that can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Tradition nine is the shortest of the three at just over 3,200 yards from the back tees. What it lacks in length, it makes up for with the rolling terrain. Golfers will face tricky uneven lies in addition to strategically placed bunkers and towering oak and pecan trees. There are also two creeks that crisscross through the entire golf course. They come into play on several holes. Not only does the Bridges provide three 18-hole courses, there is also Firewheel's original 18-hole Old Course, which was followed soon after by the 18-hole Lakes Course.

Greens were a bit rough but overall the course is pretty good overall.
Pleasant
The course is in good condition. The greens were punched 2 weeks ago so the are just a couple days from being in desired condition. Overall, enjoyed the course and round.
Great course in really good shape for a public course. Bunkers are neglected.
Great course in really good shape for a public course. Bunkers are neglected. The bunkers seem to be neglected by the course and the players. I would think the players would take better care if the course staff would maintain them. There was grass and weeds growing in the bunkers. the sand was generally shallow making a consistent shot challenging. Found myself bottoming out. Otherwise love this course tees, greens and bunkers are all nice and well maintained.
Greens
The course is usually in terrific shape. Not sure what is going on with the greens. They were terrible, putting was like playing plinko and all the holes were beat up.
Solid place to play
Played July 5 in the morning (bridges/masters) and had a very pleasant round (despite the TX heat). Course was challenging and in good condition at this time of year. Greens were in good shape. Par 3s and 5s were challenging. Some narrow holes make for an adventure if you do not keep in play. Overall a great public course and solid value. Will be back. Would like to see the beverage cart more frequently next time.
Very Pleased
Played my first round at the Bridges course (Champion and Master), and had a great time. Course conditions were good. The greens were cut a little longer, so they were slow, but considering we’re about to enter the hottest time of the year it makes sense. Pace of play was the only issue, there was a group looking for balls on a Par 3 for about 10 minutes, so I played through as a single. I then ran into another group with 5 players.
I’ll play there again, but close attention to pace of play can improve everyone’s experience.
Awesome
Awesome round of golf. The course was in outstanding condition! Great round of golf
Don’t get a tee time after 4 people and expect to finish 18
Course is in great shape but They are strict about carts back at 8pm… even though it doesn’t get dark until 8:40. The Marshall came out and made us return the cart at 8pm when we only had one hole left. I’ve been playing twilight golf for 7 years now, that’s never happen before once. Disappointing and bad business.
Well maintained and challenging courses
In town visiting a friend and booked the first tee time of the day. Since we were first, pace of play was perfect. It’s a 27 hole course and we played The Champion and The Tradition courses. Greens and fairways were in great condition, however due to recent storms, cart path only, and lots of mud.
Glad the carts had GPS map system, very helpful for first timer.
Overall 10/10. Highly recommend.
Course in great condition
The course was in great condition, greens and fairways both.
Great course!!
Greens were true, fairways were groomed and green, only downside was the snack shack was closed before the 5pm posted time.
Great Day
Course was in good shape and the pace of play was great, 4 hours 5 minutes. The greens putted true with the back 9 greens quicker than the front 9. Staff as usual, friendly and helpful.
Good shape!
Course was in great shape. Fairway were much. Tee boxes were well maintained. Greens were hard. Golf carts were in good shape too. Pace of play was good. Some better signage would improve next hole logistics and tee box locations.
Snack cart is understaffed. We didn’t see the cart girl until hole 14 and we had an early time slot.
Overall great price for the course. Thanks to the landscape team!
