Waterview Golf Club
About
Rowlett’s first course has been laid out over a flat range of pasture, supplemented by 15 acres of lakes and over 1,000 new trees. Designed to be hacker friendly, the lack of mature trees provide an especially generous look and feel, tempting the mid-level handicapper to tee it up from the 7,191 yard tips and go long off the tee. Bent greens are the highlight of the round here–they roll true and provide solid opportunities to snake in a few long putts.
Getting there : Off of I-30 exit Dalrock Rd. and drive north through Hwy. 66. A half-mile past 66 veer left on Princeton, which dead-ends at Liberty Grove. Turn right into the Waterview division and take Waterview Pkwy. to the clubhouse

First time playing
Fun course that was in good shape. Pace was a little slow for me (5 hours), staff was friendly and helpful. When I paid and mentioned it was my first time here, the gentleman in the pro shop took me outside and pointed out the highlights.
Good Course
I like the layout of Waterview. Had the first tee time, which helped the pass of play until you get to the back 9 (technically front 9 since you start on hole 10). There some areas with drainage issue around the green, which makes the ground soggy, not a major issue. The only feedback is the 9 hole tee times that are slotted in, as they significantly slowed down the pace of play. There should be a set guidelines communicated about basic golf etiquette to keep pace of play, as I saw it was very much needed. I’ll definitely play Waterview again. Directing the pace of play for the 9 hole tee times will enhance everyone’s experience.
Inconsiderate super intendant and terrible track
For &70 you get a track that is well
under maintained. A super intendant fixing sprinkler system
during play without any explanation or waving to play through. Didn’t bother to flag us down or wave us through as we were patient waiting to see if he was going to continue “fixing”. Fairway full of weeds and unleveled terrain.
Robert the Bruce
Gave an average rating for course condition as some fairways are bumpy and a lot of the sand traps are hard packed with only 0.5-1 inches of loose sand on top. A few of the tee boxes are devoid of grass.
The greens were in very good shape though. I like the layout and will definetly play again.
Conner Dunlap
Booked a 7:21 AM tee time on a Saturday morning—perfect weather and it hadn’t rained in over 12 days. Got to the course to check in and was told that early morning tee times are only for 9 holes so people can get back home. So if you’re planning to play 18, make sure you book late enough. But here’s the kicker—if you tee off 1.5 hours before sunset, they won’t let you book just 9 holes. The logic is all over the place.
It gets better. The first tee time of the day was listed as 7:01, but they decided to hold everyone until 7:30. That completely contradicts the whole “get people home” idea. If you’re not going to let people start at 7:01, then don’t book tee times that early.
Since they were making everyone start late, we asked if we could at least hit some balls—nope. Driving range doesn’t open until 7:30 either. So if you book an early tee time, make sure you warm up somewhere else before you show up.
When we finally got to the tee box, we were told the group ahead of us had a twosome that was late, even though there was already a single there ready to go. The clubhouse wanted to hold everyone until the other two showed up because they were “down the street.” Thankfully, the starter—a super nice lady—recognized how ridiculous that was and pushed to let us go ahead so we could actually tee off.
From there, things were solid until the 4th hole. A fertilizer tractor caught up to us and followed us hole by hole, pulling up to the greens at the same time we were trying to chip and putt so he could start working immediately after. I get that maintenance has to be done, but why do that at 8:15 AM on the first perfect-weather Saturday in weeks? That’s something you handle on a Monday or Tuesday.
The frustrating part is the course is actually starting to look really good. But overall, it’s one of the most unorganized courses I’ve played in a while
Poor condition, OVERPRICED
If you look on GN on the first 80° day of the year at the end of March and see a slew of morning tee times available, that’s a good indicator of several things before even stepping foot in the clubhouse. I’ve played this course for years and years and it’s slowly declined. Tee boxes were awful, fairways and roughs were bare and cracked in multiple places, and cart paths were poorly maintained. Dead, broken tree limbs were scattered in places. The pace was not any better than playing conditions. Upon turning cart key in, the clubhouse employee was sitting on a couch and watching TV and seemed to be unbothered by e coming in. Have played here a lot. Unfortunately, today was my last round. Spend your money anywhere else.
Course was ok
It was a little bit disappointing. For the price and rating of the golf course I expected more. The Pro Shop had an odor in it, maybe the attendant. The Starter, Marshalls and Cart girl were all very friendly and nice. The course needs work. The tees and fairways were rough. The greens were very nice. Overall, it will be a while before I come back.
Great course for a great price.
We played the course for a 2nd time (the first time was super windy and chilly). It is fun course with a challenging layout (the fairways slope away from the middle on a lot of holes). 5 tee positions provide a challenge for all levels and the greens are in really nice shape. The clubhouse staff is very friendly (not all that common on a lot of DFW courses). I recommend it for a fun time. The only criticisms if I have to name some are the pace of play is a little slow. I would love to see a marshall policing the slower groups a little better. I would also like to see the beverage cart coming by a little more frequently…especially as the weather heats up. A good value for the money…especially if you book on GolfNow.
Worst dollar value course
Arrived to the course 1 hour prior to my tee time, due to a issue they were not able to hand me a cart until 30 minutes past my tee time, while the group ahead of us somehow managed to get their cart before my tee times group. with tee times being spaced 8 minutes apart the pace of play was horrible waiting 5-10 minutes to tee off. When requesting a refund was told im not able to be refunded even for the back 9 holes! Overall horrible experience.
Fantastic greens
Shop staff was very friendly. Played right after a tournament. Twosome played in 2.5 hours. Greens were fantastic.
Well keep GC, clean and wonderful layout.
This GC left nothing to desire, unimaginable great condition despite season dryness. Faraway are immaculately maintained and friendly with your bad shots, very unusual to lost a ball in here. Bunkers well racked and free of rocks or debris. People’s attitude is very positive and they will always offer an apologize if mistakenly hit by you. Carts are clean and in good working condition “not GPS on board” so bring your own. Definitely worth any penny, just watch out for the pace of play and be patient, I finished 18 holes in 4.5 hours which is not bad taking in consideration the number of players.
Over priced
Waterview GC is in good shape for a public course but it’s quite a bit over priced. $80 for a tee time should bring a better experience from the first tee to the club house. Other courses in the area provide better value.
