La Quinta at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
La Quinta Course, one of the two regulation courses at Quail Valley, is a typical regulation course, slightly more difficult than El Dorado because of the water in play on 10 holes.

A wet day
Three days after rain cart path only really slowed play (with constant threatening reminders from the on board GPS). Ie: play when dry.
Greens in really good shape. Fairways also ok away from the lateral water areas.
The clubhouse set up is first class.
The last two holes remain seriously hellish on the La Quinta course.
One of the best public courses in the area.
The recent rain had us playing cart path only but besides the standing water in places the course is in decent shape. Much better than the last time I played it a couple of years ago. I'm assuming the rain was the main reason the greens were so receptive because I left large divots on each approach shot that landed on the green. I sure wish some other players would have repaired theirs. It seemed as though I was repairing 3-4 divots on each hole. The GPS units in the carts seemed very accurate and informative. Will definitely play again especially with the good deals on Golfnow!
El Dorado not for beginners
Due to rain, the la quinta course was closed and we were re-directed to the El dorado course. As a newer player, this course is incredibly challenging and punishing.
My Home Couese
This was my first time playing in four months, so it had to be here. The course was in good shape overall. We know that it doesn't drain well and there will be some wet spots on the fairways, especially numbers 1, 12, and 16. The greens were in good shape for winter golf. They rolled pretty true, and not too fast. I wish the city could raise some cash to fix #12 and cart paths. Other than that, the Quail is one of the best all-around courses for the money.
Pin positions
Decent course … I don’t understand why they put majority of the pins on the egregious of the slopes on the greens.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...
Course was in very good shape except for some of the bunkers and it was worth the money. However, the pace of play was awful, the Marshall told me I could go ahead 2 holes, which was not very helpful because I didn't know the course well enough. I ended leaving the course after 9 Holes due to slow play and being exhausted from a long week at work.
Fun and challenging course
This course is a ton of fun and challenging for all skill levels. This was my first time playing the course so I played from the golds but the course is very long, has a lot of undulations, elevated greens and sandtraps. Greens are well kept and fast but, maybe 3-4 holes had some very small rough spots on the green. Pace of play is pretty okay and some cart paths are very beat up. Friendly staff, plenty of gear in the clubhouse and apparently the grill next the the clubhouse is very good. Bring lots of golf balls and expect to hit very long and accurate drives all day if you plan to play from the tips.
Nice course
The course is challenging and very well maintained. I would recommend it to anyone and can't wait to play it again.
Enjoyed our round
Very friendly staff. Course in as good a condition as you could expect with the previous hot, dry summer. The restaurant at the clubhouse was very nice. The only problem we encountered was that the climate has played havoc with the paved cart paths and it made for a very bumpy ride.
