El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

Love this course
Course is in great shape tee to green. We played at 11a so it was wide open. Nothing negative to report.
Great Course
Second time at El Dorado course at Quail Valley. Really like the course. Has a few challenging holes and a couple other parts that “encourage” smarter golf. It is friendly to higher handicap players.
Greens were in good shape. Fairways were excellent.
However, I think the course designer had one too many Olde Fashioned’s when he set up the par threes. They are not very friendly - LONG!
Can’t wait to go back.
South htown
Great tract, great Marshalls, aerated greens sucked but will try again
Solid
Even after that rain, Friday got good roll. Greens were soft due to rain, but not the fairways. Some of greens were still a bit sandy from being plugged (guessing 3 weeks ago), but were still fine. Bunkers were near perfect. I feel it’s a bit pricey, but if you get a good deal it is a value.
Excellent
Excellent course. Beautiful layout with some challenging holes. Fairways are very nice and the greens were in great shape for Spring.
Very happy to finally get to play here and look forward to playing again.
Excellent Day at Quail Valley
Beautiful and challenging course. A few holes really make to thing and play smart golf (not my strong suit). Course was in fantastic condition and I was very impressed with the greens compared to other courses I’ve played in the last few weeks.
Really can’t wait to play this one again.
Great course.
Had a great time on the course. Great weather and great course to play on a tuesday.
Quail valley 1
Pros: perfect, just a lot of water on course, lots of soft spots after rainy week. Great marshals, greens excellent, great layout. Pro shop and grill, a big thumbs up. Putting green was perfect.
Great layout
Great fairways, great greens. Pace of play was slow bc of a foursome that was slow, Marshall didn’t do much to speed them up.
Lots of Water
A challenging course with water hazards on almost every hole and multiple ones at that. I'd have to play it several times to learn where not to hit the ball. Slopes around all the greens and unforgiving bunkers abound. Tough track that is very challenging. Greens need some healing or some care. Great value !!
Great course. Terrible greens.
I played this course on a weekday super twilight. The layout and the design of the course is really nice. However, the greens are another story. Completely bumpy. Sand all throughout. I wouldn’t pay weekend primetime rates for this condition.
