El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course
About
Developers eventually had their way with this cow pasture on the fringe of Houston. Loaded with native pecans and oaks and supplemented with even more transplanted trees, the terrain is ideal for golf, with two creeks and five natural lakes on the property. In fact, it's good enough to host the PGA Tour's Houston Open in 1973 and 1974.
The traditional El Dorado Course plays to a par 70 and features five par 3s that go 190-yards-plus from the tips. Jay Riviere designed the back nine.
Jeff Blume managed the redesign and complete renovation of the El Dorado Course in 2009.

Excellent Day at Quail Valley
Beautiful and challenging course. A few holes really make to thing and play smart golf (not my strong suit). Course was in fantastic condition and I was very impressed with the greens compared to other courses I’ve played in the last few weeks.
Really can’t wait to play this one again.
Great course.
Had a great time on the course. Great weather and great course to play on a tuesday.
Quail valley 1
Pros: perfect, just a lot of water on course, lots of soft spots after rainy week. Great marshals, greens excellent, great layout. Pro shop and grill, a big thumbs up. Putting green was perfect.
Great layout
Great fairways, great greens. Pace of play was slow bc of a foursome that was slow, Marshall didn’t do much to speed them up.
Lots of Water
A challenging course with water hazards on almost every hole and multiple ones at that. I'd have to play it several times to learn where not to hit the ball. Slopes around all the greens and unforgiving bunkers abound. Tough track that is very challenging. Greens need some healing or some care. Great value !!
Great course. Terrible greens.
I played this course on a weekday super twilight. The layout and the design of the course is really nice. However, the greens are another story. Completely bumpy. Sand all throughout. I wouldn’t pay weekend primetime rates for this condition.
Excellent, Challenging and Fun Course!
It’s in good shape always, great value and its fun and challenging.
Grumpy old men
My friend and I teed off at 12:10, there were 2 fivesomes in front of us, five carts in each group. So, on the 8th hole both of these groups are on the hole, one on the green and one waiting to tee off, we decided to skip the hole, and go to #9. Another fivesome was on the 9th green, as we prepared to hit our 2nd shot to the green, a guy with a Marshall flag came from the group we passed, and proceeded to tell us that we were not allowed to go around them, he was very rude and obnoxious. We complied and returned to the 8th tee box, the GPS in the cart reminded us through out the round, that we were behind schedule. The moral of the story is DO NOT PLAY at QUAIL VALLEY.
Slow pace, and greens are deteorating
Took almost 5 hours to complete my round. Regularly had 4 groups stacked up on one hole, and the Marshall was doing nothing about it. The greens here used to be great, but are heading downhill quickly. They need to do better soon, or will start losing customers.
Bunkers aren’t good anymore
Everthing’s fine except the bunkers that are hard with less amount of sand
Tough But FunTrack
A good course but not an easy layout. The course was in good shape with the exception of a few greens that had some bad spots due to disease or fungus. Otherwise the greens rolled well and the course is a challenging but fun layout in overall good condition. Definitely reccomended.
