Super Fun
Wonderful layout with lots of hidden trouble. Course knowledge essential for scoring. Greens very difficult due to slopes. I had more second longer than first putts in my life. Aggressive putting can hold lines but if you miss you could easily be off the green.
Great Deal Great Layout
This place is still one of best layouts around, staff was great told us about big group in front and that it might be slow--Course in good shape plenty of gras--Greens roll true and break a lot.
Great Break From Routine Golf !!!
Great quite trip to the country. Un-crowded , relaxed atmosphere. Staff was outstanding and course near pristine condition. Very challenging course. Picking the correct tee position is very important !
This course has great fairways and very challenging greens.
If you're looking for a course to challeng all aspects of your game, this course will do it.Tight fairways, lots of water to avoid, strategically place sand traps, and most of all, fast sloping greens. If you're on the wrong side of the cup,be prepared to having a 20ft comeback put if you miss the hole.
Excellent Central Texas layout.
The Falls is an excellent track laid out in the Central Texas woodlands. Even though it is a gated community, you don't see that many houses from the course. Lots of wildlife such as exotic deer and other native species abound. The course is challenging, even from the forward tees. The fairways were in wonderful shape with every good shot ending with a nice clean lie. The greens were quite fast, but the pin placements were fair and rewarded good shots. I would highly recommend that anyone visiting the area should try out The Falls. They have cottages for rent and a week there would be a great opportunity to relax and enjoy some great golf.
Worth the drive from Houston
While The Falls is a bit out of the way, the drive is worth it. It's challenging layout where position off the tee is at a premium and a missed iron will cost you around the greens, which are fast and true.
Very enjoyable time
nice service + nice course plus + nice weather = Very Enjoyable Time
Very Enjoyable Experience
I have driven to play this course twice in the last 20 years and I have thoroughly enjoyed both trips. The layout winds through woods with fairways that change elevation and also have beautiful water features. This is a challenging layout and, as with most courses in this part of the country, the drought has made tight fairway grass the norm. The greens were in excellent condition and were fast with a good bit of slope. The pace of play was good for our foursome. Overall a very nice experience!
Great Course .....slow play!!
A friend and I played The Falls on Friday and again on Saturday. Friday was great, no problems, tough course and pace of play was great. Sunday was a different story with two five-somes going off ahead of our group. Took over 5 hours to play in the afternoon with no Marshall's available. My friend was so upset he called the pro shop on 14 after waiting over 20 min on the tee box.......not much help from the staff. They ran out of hot dogs and sausage at the turn so it wasn't a great experience. If your going to drive all the way to New Ulms make sure you don't have a string of five-some's playing!!!
Worth the drive!
A very challenging tree-lined layout with plenty of water and well-placed traps. The well-groomed course will test all parts of your game. Be sure to spend extra time on the practice green as the sloping greens will really test your putting skills.
Awesome golf weekend get away! Thank you!
Awesome golf weekend get away! Staffs were nice and ready to help you.
Beautiful setting and great holes to play.
The entire experience was outstanding. Range balls were provided, The staff was friendly and the course was in excellent shape. I will go back, again and tell my friends.
Thank You Golfnow!
Probably wouldn't have played this course if I hadn't found it on Golfnow. As the guy in the pro-shop said to me, "Get ready to play one of the hardest courses in Texas."
With beautiful fairways and greens that roll for days, this course is a "must play" and is well worth the drive.
and by the way, the guy in the pro-shop was right!
Super Golf Course for the $$
I got the Golfnow deal for $29 on a Tuesday. The course is always beautiful with great opportunities for wildlife viewing. The greens were in great shape and rolling well. The pace of play was excellent! The only criticism I can even say is that the fairways are very tightly mowed. There's not a plush feeling to the fairways. You're having to hit a lot of "bare lie" type shots out of the fairways. The only other negative is the location. It is definitely off the beaten path, but, hey, it is where it is. I still highly recommend making the jaunt out to this great golf course.
The course was in super shape for the dead of winter. I'll be back!
The course was in excellent shape for the dead of winter. The greens were fast and smooth, although some of the pins were set in really tough spots. One word of advice, DON'T get above the hole or 3 putts will be in store. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the drink car was running full time. Ask about Troon rewards and get a bag tag and free sleeve of Callaways. Hey its worth a trip to go see if you have not played recently. Thanks Troon Golf!.
Fun and challenging course to play; great nature experience
Always enjoy getting out to The Falls, in the country away from Houston. Course was in good shape and playing time not bad for a Saturday. A good test of golf; good variety of holes and doglegs. A "thinking", course management type of course; you can't just blast away!!
Great Day of Golf
The Falls was in excellent condition. We were greeted by a friendly face as we approached the pro shop. The course was in excellent shape. All the greens were tightly mowed. My playing partner commented that they felt like carpet but rolled like glass. Overall, great experience.
Beautiful even in the winter, but still putts tough!
Great condition even with the challenges of the drought. Sand traps are in good shape, I like how they have places painted for where the sand rakes should be placed. Great layout, just wish I could play it better. :(
Perfect conditions on a truly fine course.
Course conditions immaculate. Greens not as fast as they usually are due to remedial conditions after reseeding and a subsequent storm.
Multiple tee boxes for every ability level. Challenging. A wonderful experience, especially at a discounted price. Worth the trek from Houston.
Worth the drive!!
Don't think twice. Go for it. I drove an hour and a half to get there and loved every minute of it. It's a Troon golf facility which means that they know how it's done. I've played a few Troon facilities around the country and they are all fantastic. I had no idea until I showed up and saw their name on the carts. I knew I was in good hands at that point.
