RiverWatch Golf Club

The greens were perfect, and the fairways were nice, but the course was extremely challenging. The front nine was fair but the back nine had some impossible shots. However, I loved the different characteristics of every par 3 on this course.

Course was built by two different architects: Jerry Lemons designed the current front 9 and Peter Jacobson / Jim Hardy designed the current back 9. The front 9 is a little less playable then the back as it has more forced carries and is tighter than the back. However, the terrain is still as bold and yielded numerous memorable holes.

The on site staff (I met two of the owners) and they could not have been nicer, more helpful, and very passionate about their course (and rightly so). Course is one of my favorites in Tennessee and in the same discussion as Sweeten's Cove and The Sewanee Club.

There are too many unique / strategic holes to name and that is a testament to how good the course is.

I played Riverwatch yesterday and this course is in great shape. The greens were smooth and relatively fast to be February. This course is a hidden gem in Middle Tennessee.

Enjoy Riverwatch for the variety and challenges of this course. Great value but on a holiday weekend was a bit slow.

Waited long on every shot on the front side. When we got to the turn there were at least 10 carts waiting. Wait between shots got even longer and we quit after hole 11.

Think it could have been a 6 hour round. Very difficult around the greens

I experienced Riverwatch for the first time on Saturday morning and went in hesitant as it was a bit of a drive for me. Any expectations I had were blown away by this beautiful gem of a golf course. It’s situated up high with breathtaking views of the surrounding area. There’s not a flat hole among the 18 because it is built to work with the rolling hills and not carved out of them. This makes for an extremely fun challenge as you have blind shots, and shots that can run downhill for that extra distance that makes you feel better about your game. The fairways were lovely, well manicured, and firm which produced true iron shots. Just make sure you hit the fairways, otherwise you will lose many balls as anything in the trees is down the mountain. The greens were firm and fast and an exciting challenge. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, I’ve already booked my next tee time as I was so impressed with the course. Don’t let the location deter you from making the trip to this spectacular course, trust me, it’s worth the drive.

Greens were as good as any you’ll find. Fairways were hard and crusty. Beautiful scenery, but tight in places and target landing areas. Tough course. Bring plenty of balls if you can’t keep it in the fairway. Give it an 8 out of 10

By far, best experience I've had playing golf. Beautiful and challenging course. Amazing staff. Great food. Definitely a 10 out of 10. We had a group of eight so 2 foursomes and played 81 holes in 3 days. We had such an incredible experience we're going to make this a 2-3 times a year trip seeing as we live over an hour away. Can't wait to come back. I highly recommend

Its a course that requires accuracy off the tee and some course knowledge. Not long, but cant be overpowered either. Traps needed some work and sand. Hardly anyone there today so pace was good. Had some very nice holes and reachable in 2 par 5’s. Greens were in good shape. If you find a titleist 2 in the woods, you’re welcome.

Riverwatch is a very nice course that is very reasonably priced. The course is in nice shape for this time of year. The tee shots are challenging and the greens are very difficult. You have to hit the green and you don't want to be putting or chipping downhill. They are fast and have lots of breaks. Missing the greens can bring a penalty. I enjoyed the challenge and only wish it wasn't such a long drive from my home.

This is one of the most fun courses I have ever played, it is the best value for the money by far. The staff is great and the food was good also. This is a must play course in Tennessee.

Narrow fairways and very thick + steep rough areas. If you hit into the woods, don't spend time looking (too many people do and the pace of play was brutal - I ended up folding after waiting 15 mins on the 13th tee). Hilly, longer holes in the back nine.

Loads of fun, but you better stay in the fairway...sandtraps need some work, but other than that, pretty solid overall. Staff was great! Will definitely be back...Terry B.

Great day at the course, a good challenge and beautiful scenery. Good day friendly staff a hidden gem in Sparta.

This is middle Tennessee's hidden gem. Fairways were great. Rough was actual rough, but not so bad you could not make a play. Greens were fast and rolling perfect. There is not a single hole that you do not have to think about where your ball will land and then where the slope will actually allow the ball to stop. Great course. Very friendly in the clubhouse.

Course is in great shape. I only wish my game matched it ...especially on the more-difficult back 9. I sincerely urge others to repair ball marks on the greens. The course is in excellent condition, and the “track” is as great layout.

Greens are true but very undulating and difficult to manage. So what? Learn how to putt!!

Great course...a true gift to our area.
