Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Great track but…..
Absolutely love this track. Well designed holes and each one is memorable. But I can’t help thinking it has too much of a “Muni” feel to it: tracks like this usually don’t. There are sprinkler leaks all over, bad conditions due to lack of maintenance everywhere, no drinking water on the course (it was 104 that day!). The cart was in horrible condition, as well as dirty, empty sand bottles, etc.. I recommend people to play due to the course design but don’t have high expectations for maintenance and service.
Course conditions
I’d strongly recommend looking into the irrigation on this course as multiple areas of concern regarding muddy fairway conditions due to poor irrigation and drainage.
Hot deal rate
Paid for the hot deal at 1058 in full ahead of time, only for the check in to charge the other 3 in my group the full price when checking in.
Need a little maintenance on carts
Course was in good condition despite some patches on the green.
Cart died on hole 3 due to battery issue.
Took 15 min to get another cart.
Otherwise good neighborhood course.
Good Track. Some greens still a little iffy
This is a friendly (easy) track espeially from the whites. A couple of the greens in the first few holes have been sodded so that sucks but for the most part it's in good shape. BRING WATER. They don't have any on the course.
Go elsewhere
Played this course in a period where not much rain had come down and figured I would have no issue with wet fairways and mud. I was very wrong. Half of the holes have large streaks of mud going down the middle of the fairways. Greens are awful and inconsistent with the exception of holes such as 12, 13, and 14. Couldn’t even finish hole 2 because they didn’t bother to mention that the green was closed for maintenance. Will not be returning, this place needs a lot of work. Solid clubhouse and pro shop staff though, at least the ones who were not teenagers.
Invest in this potential gem
- No range balls for a 10:00 tee time on the weekend
- no large golf gloves in mid-season
- black golf cart seats in Texas (get scalding hot)
- no on course water for drinking, should be some on every 3rd hole
- one beverage cart for the whole course — saw it twice
- carts in need of maintenance, had to return 2 before we started (bad brakes, struggling to make up hill to first tee)
- $76 round is ridiculously high and haven’t even started talking about the course
- no sand on carts to fill in divots, players who care can’t help
- greens are starting to show signs of improvement, but still VERY spotty and inconsistent speeds
- watering of course is visibly inconsistent
- do some basic maintenance and management
— rope off areas requiring grass to grow in
— address muddy areas to avoid more course damage
— invest in people: train them, get more
- blue rope (on #2 and other spots) is hard to see, use yellow like everyone else
Getting Much Better
First, I’m not sure if it was the heat that kept people away or the pace of play just got a little quicker, but we did not wait on any hole we played. Second, the greens were in much better shape than they had been in previous months. They were quicker than the ball rolled truer on our pets. Clearly the course management is working hard to improve the greens. Overall, aside from the Texas heat, it was a very enjoyable experience.
And they seem to have fixed the issue with the beverage cart service. We saw the beverage cart five times during our round. In the past, we were lucky to see the beverage cart twice in 18 holes. Not sure if they hired better people or if they did a little training, but that is appreciated.
Lastly, but certainly not least, the staff has always been friendly, and this was quite evident on Saturday as well.
We teed off at 7:42, the 4 some in front of us took almost 20 minutes a hole. Luckily we were able to jump in front of them on #10, really need Marshalls in the course
Great course that need Some TLC
I’ve played here before. The greens are improving but far from usable. They have done well to clear the down trees. The tee boxes are good: most fairways are in great shape. Bunkers were great. Just too many gaps and rough spots on the greens
Greens are trash
Price is still a little high for the greens and some fairway conditions. As my buddy described sand traps on the greens. Tee boxes were nice. And there are a few good greens. Really enjoy the layout. Will be back just for the layout.
Decent but could be better
The course is pretty nice all things considered but the course is not in as good of condition as it was 2 years ago. It's crazy when a course in Texas summer has no water jugs on the course, no one selling concessions before 10, no cart service until after 10.
The club house bathrooms could be cleaner for the price range. Its the quality of an outdoor bathroom on the course.
It's OK
Ridgeview management acts like they are not interested in trying to maintain a first class operation. Paper score cards; carts in need of attention; greens that are just ok, but could use improvements; No drinking water on the course; no drink cart; cart paths in need of repair, etc. It's like they are trying to keep the doors open with minimal personnel and minimal upkeep costs.
