Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club

About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Good value
What you see is what you get on the course. Staff very friendly. Good mix of holes.
Carts were in terrible shape--significant weakness of the overall experience.
Golf Carts
The course was in good shape but there were no golf carts available upon arrival. I didn’t get a cart until my tee time.
Phenomenal Muni
Course and green conditions are exceptional. The greens were on the longer end of a cut but still lovely and rolled true. Fairways were clean and free of weeds and very well manicured. This is a great course that smartly accommodates everyone.
Great Course
This is a great course and well priced. The carts are terrible but everything else is worth the money. I was told they are in the process of updating their fleet. GPS is a must have if you’ve never been here before. The greens and fairways are in great shape and plenty of bunkers to challenge your game. I played it back to back days while I was in Dallas. Both days we started on the back 9 and a group jumped on in front of us at 1 which was 10 that day because there was no Marshall but they ended up playing with us and they were nice guys so it all worked out. No starter was present either day so I could see pace of play becoming an issue but it was never a problem either day for me.
Ridge View
The course was in good shape. Greens all looked nice and full. Once you are on u can putt. Overall pretty good
Carts are a joke
The carts are an absolute nightmare — seats are splitting, tires are bald, my first cart didn’t have reverse; it’s the third time in a row I didn’t finish with the cart I started with. Gentleman in the group ahead of me said he was on his 3rd cart since he arrived; beverage cart drivers have had trouble with the brakes the past 2 times we’ve been there. It’s clear the owners don’t want to invest more in this once gem of a property — range balls are old and a mess (not getting cleaned before putting in a communal box that the customer has to pull the bucket for); they need to do basic repairs with fill dirt and/or sand in soft spots near cart paths; provide dirt / seed containers on every cart to fill divots.
Getting Better!
The greens are getting in much better shape than they used to be. Playing true! Love the course layout, one of the best in the area and makes you play some fun shots.
Revived Ridgeview
I have been playing at this golf course since 2016. It used to be a great golf course but after the Covid-19, the condition of the course was constantly going down. So I didn't play here last year. However, my friend and I were pleasantly surprised when we played at this golf course a couple of days ago. It is completely revived and now it is in EXCELLENT condition. My friend and I loved our round and plan to comeback soon at this beautiful and well-maintained golf course.
Course Conditions Vastly Improved
Staff here is second to none! The course had seen it's darkest days, but the course is improving! Greens were decent and fairways although not lush are decent! Cartgirl was available on this hot, summer day, and we saw her 3 times which is more than other courses where you maybe see them once if at all.

Decent Municipal Course
Haven't played course in about 15 years. Enjoy the layout and price, but a few improvements would help. Water jugs around the course, carts maintained a little better, and greens rolled.
It could be good if…
This course needs a serious update to its infrastructure and business management. The course itself is in decent condition and seems to be decently maintained… but thats not the only thing that makes a good course. The fact that in the state of Texas a course has zero water on the course available outdoors should genuinely be a health and safety hazard and be immediately addressed. Only offering water available for purchase by beverage cart that comes around once a round is a crime.
